Good morning and Merry Christmas to everyone here! (Happy Hanna-Rana-Qwanz-Mas to anyone that doesn't celebrate Christmas. :D)

 

Today's update isn't really going to be much of an update... I'm super busy with the holidays and all that. SO, here's my short and sweet take on the situation:

 

Abadi continues to impress. He's accomplished more in less than a year than his predecessor did in almost a decade. 

 

We have a budget! It's reasonable to say the least, giving Iraq a LOT of wiggle room even with these low oil prices.

 

We have cooperation! The Erbil agreements are exactly what we want to see, the Kurds are happier every day, and the country is working together.

 

ISIS continues to be pushed out, and I think by next week I may not even need to mention them again. 

 

I'll sum this up in a a few short words: We can't be far off now.

Good question. Shabs is a VERY smart man, and was very good at his job. If he were to come back to that position, the new GOI under Abadi is a different animal than what Shabibi had before. 

 

I don't think Shabibi was the reason for Iraq not RVing - if anything, he was held back by Maliki. That is no longer the case, and I feel like Shabibi could be a major asset to an RV.... so I'm going to say his return would be a good thing for us, but his return is by no means necessary for progress.

Do you know of anything major that is standing in the way of the RV,  I know you are on top of this , more than anybody else. I really want to retire. Think of baking a cake... it takes some time to mix and bake, but it's sitting on the counter cooling right now, and pretty soon the frosting goes on and then we sing some songs and EAT!

Gut Feelings  Happy Holidays to you Adam & Everyone else.  My question is simply this:  If they have an HCA, Why is it taking them so long to make it a LAW??

 

 

We have an HCA, now we have a budget, Sunnis and Shiites are working together, things are moving. I would have loved to see all this progress 5 or more years ago, but the bottom line is it is happening now so I'm not going to complain.

What do you think Adam? It is not the HCL but the Budget could it be they will go hand in hand when

bassglo  Adam, does a 2% spread  between the market rate, and the official rate have to be maintained for 90 days before an RV can happen?  If so, did we just start over because they fell out of compliance sometime in the last week?

 


No, that is not an actual requirement to RV. The CBI can make the decision to RV at any time regardless of any spread, rate, or timeline.

Cosmicndn  Merry Christmas Adam and your staff. You provide such an awesome service to us investors. I read that Iraq may not RV until there is proper security across the country and ISIS has created a situation that may hold off any RV until security of the country has stabilized. While I think the security of Iraqi investments and banking systems will always be in question in the middle east, I was wondering if this will effectively hold up an RV until ISIS is eradicated from Iraq?

 

 

 

ISIS continues to be less and less of an issue in Iraq, and I really think they are pushed off far enough that they are no longer a factor in Iraq's ability or willingness to RV. Major issues now are simply budget and HCL, which are pretty well taken care of.

 

We're on the brink! :twothumbs:

now that the budget is done....someone break out the calculator and try and figure out what a good rate will end up being.... I know there will be other factors that go into it all...but I am sure we can now have a "range" of a rate...
