Tlar: I haven’t got a clue other than this is something to watch. My belief is that they are going to do it closer to the end of the month but who knows.

They are ready, able and it just could be that they are willing to do it now. Of the things that could tie all the economic programs together as stated above, the currency would be my first choice.

But a few days is better than in the next phase, or soon, or some other foolish lead. The next few days to me means they will make an anouncement of some kind that they themselves say is historic, sometime this week ending in Sunday the 21st. Mike: I don’t get it, this is just another article from an economist in Iraq. If I had a dollar for every one of these I wouldn’t need an RV to be wealthy. I love the tone and direction, but where’s the beef? It would be something else entirely if the author was Abadi or even Tamimi, here’s hoping this guy has some pull in the government and things happen like he predicts.

One other thing “few days and folded the public pages of “2014” , this to me doesnt mean “in a few days” something will happen, it says to me that the remaining days of 2014 will see a turning of the page for Iraq and their economy. Implying that reforms will begin in 2015, not before the end of this year.

This is reinforced in the next paragraph “We are on the threshold of the year “2015”. Of course this is just an opinion on an article from which I dont know the source or context.

XXXX: I agree with Schiz and RD about the translation. I think the reference to “in a few days” just means the year will be over in a few days, and he’s saying that the government program, itself, is the most important thing, economically, for Iraq, since 2003. Just because of that, though, doesn’t mean I wasn’t really excited about this article. He’s right. Abadi’s program includes liberating the private sector, and that’s the most important thing to us, as nothing supports a liberated currency like a free market.

Yasser Incumbent (name translates from “Metwally”) is a very important economist in Iraq. We’ve seen his articles for years, and he does seem to have some pull. It may be overstating the case, but Metwally is sort of like Iraq’s Paul Krugman. I don’t like Krugman, but when he speaks, politicians listen, and it seems to be the same with Metwally.

Guess we could add another category “throw caution to the wind” for those that automatically accept only one explanation for this paragraph without supporting link or additional articles to clarify. I’ve seen no one here that qualifies as either “spoil sports” or “throw caution to the wind.”

Think all realize the wording or translation is so ambiguous that it could apply to something already underway or something that is intended to occur. If it’s the latter, we’ll know soon enough as it implies economic reform that will be historic.

Like that word as I’ve not seen it used before–especially in association with nothing this historic since 2003, but will take a wait and see position … as I typically do without link or additional articles.

Seems to me everyone is being open, optimistic, cautious. Great paragraph if true. Time is the only true test in any matters regarding Iraq.

This article is telling of a prominent economic event that will be the most significant since 2003. Linking it to 2003 is what has me interested. The context, that they are on the threshold of 2015, is also interesting. This economist is pumped about something. True, we don’t know when. I also agree that the next few days was in reference to the new year.

Rissas dad: Revbo thanks for posting the article and the info on the writer. I think its a great article, and it doesnt have the feel of an opinion piece to me. He speaks as though Iraq is about to do something historic, not the usual “calling for” as they usually say which means next to nothing.

The opinion that I have that he means next year and not this year isnt a downer, quite the opposite. Next year is very soon as they say, and no reason to be upset unless you were expecting this month which I do not and havent. Everyone here should know by now to never expect.

"It's" going to happen one day and we're not even going to believe that it actually happened because of all the blah, blah, blah we have to read thru daily.  Over the years we have become so desensitized to keep from getting excited and getting our hopes up only to be let down.  I think someone will have to hit me over the head to make me believe that it "actually" happened. And then I'm still going to be skeptical.  Don't get me wrong, I BELIEVE It will happen! Its just that you get so use to reading this stuff and then nothing.

 

But IT WILL HAPPEN!

lol... That's ok... I learned ( somehow) to be cool about this whole Dinar RV ordeal......Boot camp was tough but we ( some more than others) learned to be patient.... Kinda....
