okane
It's been a crazy year for my household. One of my best friends from 6th grade on was buried this morning after a three year battle with ovarian cancer. She has two daughters, 16 and 19. She was an amazing person. Made friends every where, she rarely shook hands but always hugged. Even to the end, her attitude was one of gratitude. In the past year, I have buried my 9 year old special needs daughter, two days later lost a sister-in-law to an car accident, leaving a 13 month old little girl and husband. This all happened the week before Christmas. They spent the next 4 months living with us. In late January I had the "widow maker" heart attack. Recovered without any problems. In September we buried our new born son. We have had some hard moments but we were never alone. We have much to be thankful for. At Charlie's funeral the book and life of Job was the topic. In spite of it all, Job was always thankful for his blessings. A few weeks later, I had the honor to attend the Navy graduation of my eldest son Spencer from Great Lakes. He was the Recruit Revue Commander. He served as such over three graduations. Talk about and over the top proud daddy moment ! He is now serving in D.C. with the Ceremonial Guard at Arlington. Then on to combat medic is his plan. I know that many of you have family and friends serving in many parts of the world at this time, some with children that miss their parents. My prayer is that you will have all that you stand in need of and enough to share. May you be blessed and may your hearts be full. I often think of some of you with health, financial or other issues and wish you well and keep you in our prayers. Quiet Learner, I wonder if he is still with us or we'll have to meet up later. I feel blessed to have know many of you. I wish all the best for you and your's at this season of Thanksgiving. As I was writing this an old, very old, friend stopped by to say good-bye. He has end stage cancer and is moving to CO to live out his days with family. He says, "I feel fine and I'm still here ! " and with a big smile, "I guess I need to do more service". For those that served at the big airbase (I don't remember the name) in the Philippines. You may remember him. Jose, he ran a market just outside the gates. Happy Thanksgiving to Each of you Edited November 26, 2014 by okane
Sonnet
Goodness, Okane . . . tears are streaming down my face as I read your words and commitment to God. You know, it is the Bridal Soul that runs to Him and not away from Him, in tragedies in this life (and you have). I will pray for you and your family and also for Jose. Yes, God bless our troops . . . the best in the world. Thank you for your constant and faithful sacrifice. It is not going unnoticed by many of us here, neither is it going unnoticed by our Father in Heaven. I will be thinking of you on Thanksgiving Day and every day, as many of you are in a foxhole somewhere or worse. Thank you! Thank you! and thank your families also. We have so much to be thankful for . . . it is truly overwhelming. Thank you God. Happy Thanksgiving to all! Nadita
Okane, Thank you for sharing your story and you have gone through a lot in your life. I pray God will bless you more and just like you said, Job stay true and faithful and God bless him double. I pray it wil be you too with double blessings from God, good health. God counts everything and He doesn't forget. Even though, in dire situation, we can look around and be thankful for other things in our lives. I pray this Thanksgiving will bring you much blessings, happiness, joy, and love and may we not forget what our servicemen/women have done in the past and present time. We have a lot to be thankful. Happy Thanksgiving!

okane
Thank you all for your kindness. Clark was the airbase. A week or two ago someone posted about the hard time that they were going through, loss of home and family, etc. He really sounded like he was at the "end of his rope". I wanted to share parts of that story but it just didn't seem like the right time. When you're in the middle of a crisis no one wants to hear, "I know how you feel 'cause I lost _____" weather it be his prize pig or his favorite Uncle Earl. At that moment there is nothing that someone can say to fix the hurt. It helps tremendously to have personal relationship with your Heavenly Father. That and having faith in the knowledge that He is in charge. Thank you again
