If a Redenomination Were to Occur, Just How Difficult are the Logistics?

We will never know just how much dinar is held outside iraq.  But here is an interesting logistics point.  Let's play low ball and say there is only 1 Trillion dinar held by speculators.  The currency of choice is the 25,000 dinar note.  That would require dealers to have exported 40 Million 25K dinar bills to overseas locations.  If you consider that many estimates have the speculator holdings at over 10 Trillion dinar, it would require 400 Million 25K notes shipped out of iraq.  That is an enormous amount.  NOW.  CONSIDER THIS:  If a Redenomination were to be called, where you must exchange "old for new", the dinar dealers would have to first buy and then export 400 million  25 Dinar notes out of iraq to exchange for your 400 million 25K notes. They must then import your old 25 K notes back into iraq to exchange for the new currency before it gets demonitized.  That's called a nightmare in the world of logistics.  Remember, it took 10 years to bring 10 Trillion dinars over here, but you may only have a one-two year exchange window going back.  A logistics nightmare.

This is a Redenomination scenario.  This is what is discussed by the CBI and was put on hold in 2012.  This is not a BS scenario.

I made a decision many years ago to take a chance and by some Iraqi Dinar.  I have since educated myself about currency, Forex and the workings of many countries and their politics. The choice I made to purchase dinar has opened my eyes to a lot of things. Mostly the workings (or non workings) of our own government. 

 

I have gained a few great friends along the way...and have had a ton of laughs and fun. I have learned to educate myself in many many ways.

 

I think even if I lose the money..I have gained in the long run.

 

Danger? I have gained more than I could loose

 

It is not always about the dollar Ewingm. Especially for me in this case.

Never stop evaluating your decisions, SnowGlobe.  Its like buying a coat just because its on sale.  Once you get it back to the house and the "emotion" has drained off, you realize that living in Key West, you didn't really make a good decision, so you take it back. (and get your money)  All I'm trying to do is inject some discussion (and thought) into areas of this "investment" that maybe people haven't considered before.  I do this because I have had many, many conversations with my dinarian family members and I PROMISE you they haven't considered much of any of this.  They just keep repeating that phrase "it looks real good for the RV this week".  When you listen to that mantra week in and week out for YEARS like I have, you tend to get a different perspective on the term "brainwashed".  I hope you are more "open" to the "what ifs" than they are.  They are in a bad way with this because of the money they socked into it.

No matter what happens we have already gained. No real risk left for us in this.  Just the final outcome. And yes I have met a heck of a lot of good people. I get my music out of Italy and theres always a friendly cat in the neighborhood.  I Still miss Florida guys posts and I miss our conversations

I know its probably very frustrating knowing your family bought into this so hard.  But remember not everyone did. Plenty of people just  threw a few bucks at it.

Did your church actually promote the dinar.?  I am not a religious man but  i can see how easily people could be convinced into spending their life savings if their church promoted it.  Just not right IMO

SocialD,  There is truth in your words.  It is hard to be in my position where too much was spent by very easily scammed old people in my family.  And yes, it was pushed by their church as it was across the country. It is a false teaching IMO that has caused great harm.  It has also shifted people's priorities away from God, and more towards chasing the thrill of money.  I have seen this with my own eyes.  That is why I often refer to what the gurus do as "brainwashing".  I realize lots of other dinarians bought lightly and appropriately, but that's not where I live.  That's why I tend to get frustrated with some of the things that are said.  But that is my cross to bear.  I still enjoy debating points, and I must say that if facts prove one of us right, the fact that the dinar has remained virtually unchanged form the last five years, proves my point of view, at least for now.

I heard about this from a friend a long time ago. The rate was increasing consistently then. Almost every day.

My friend said to do my own homework and never ever listen to the pumpers.

I have always been puzzled about the religious side of this but it does not surprise me

The church angle  has to do with "end times" spoken of in the books of Isaiah, Jeremiah, Ezekiel and Revelation.  I do believe we are at or near those times, but I do not believe that money is part of the picture.  There are many kinds of faith, SocialD, faith in parents, faith in our doctors, some people actually have faith in government.  Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. A very necessary component of every dinarian!

SocialD, It is almost impossible to debate religion.  Spiritual things cannot be comprehended from a "natural"  or worldly place of understanding.  I know this from personal experience.  My education was in the sciences, where evolution was the "god".  I can stand at the Grand Canyon and explain every rock strata you see.  I know the fossil record, and the miracle of DNA replication.  But my spirit was completely blunted to any connection to my Creator.  I won't bore you with the details, but that is no longer the case.  Mankind can and will screw up any number of endeavors, especially religion.  but it is my belief that God blessed each of us with a "seed" of spiritual awareness.  Germinating and growing that seed is the hard part. It requires God's help.  And yes, SocialD, I do believe we are in the '"end times" as described so clearly in scripture.  The reestablishment of Israel as  nation in 1948, after being scattered throughout the earth for 3,000 years, started the "end time" clock ticking.

I agree with Sno.......we have all made some interesting friendships/acquaintances because the Dinar brought us here.  For that I am thankful!

 

Whether we are discussing Re-domination or Religion, everyone will be on one side or the other. 

 

This is all interesting and I like a polite debate from both sides!

You know, I don't do a lot of research on the dinar, as I am one of the people who is not heavily invested. (Less than a million) I bought back in 04 or 05(can't exactly remember) while I was over there in the military. I put half of it in a frame with all of the other currencies I have and the other half in a drawer. Didn't even really think about it for years.

Anyway. The reason for my post is that I am astonished that the churches are promoting this!!! I had no idea! It is wrong on so many levels that I don't even know where to begin. I am not naive enough to think this is a high probability gamble (which is why I didn't buy a lot) , but the faith that people have in their churches and what they teach and preach could lead to disaster with something like this. Itjjust blows my mind.

Think of the logistics of the dealers. They don't have reserve requirements like banks. All the profit has been spent. Comes an RD, any old dinar   they hold can't be sold. If they want to buy it will be with borrowed money. That's an added expense. If they choose to buy it would be at a deep discount. Then they have the cost to ship it back..

They squawk waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay to much and spend waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too much time on a website for people not have vested themselves-LOL. They like many of their brethren(LOPsters) they create scenarios (multiple in some cases),& change their names frequently. All in the hopes of stirring the pot and crying like little babies. Most folk that sell out move on to bigger & better opportunities...................not LOPsters. There self proclaimed intelligence and the disdain they have for anyone that has differing opinions is mind boggling. I too am like SD, I come down here for the laughs that these self absorbed folks provide. I must admit it would get boring here at DV without a LOPster singing the blues post.
