I would agree with you that all people want a place to call their own, nothing wrong with that.  However, the Palestinian people not only want a place to call their own, they also insist their neighbor should be annihilated and wiped from the face of the earth.  If the Palestinians would drop the second part of their requirements there would be no more war.  As simple as that, and it does not seem too complex to me.
