It's why all the educated Wall Street bankers and stock brokers don't buy Iraqi dinar

Any way if ya don't know what a lop is your allowed to discuss it in the lopster tank

Its fun

Its gruesome

It's antagonizing its tottaly rediculous

No matter what it is exciting vigorous learning

Ok don't talk about it any where else it's not tolerated

Grrrrr !!

It's an easy read though

You can learn it in just a few minutes or by writing to me or any one else and just saying I don't know what I'm talking about

And we can bicker about it till the cows come home for is to butcher them and make meatloaf

Dontlop :)

I don't see any point of debating it. I understand what LOP means. They take out three zeros from the currency and we will be making whatever rate x the amount of our investment then you delete the zeros, that's how much you make.

For instance if I have a million dinar and they take out three zeros. My one million dinar will become one thousand dinar x the exchange rate say 3.22, so I get 3,222 dollars minus my initial investment of 1000 dollars. I will get 2,222 profit in 5 years of my invested time.

Truly not bad :). It's better odds than putting it in in the banks and mutual funds :)

Dinar is speculative investment like playing roulette. You can put the bets on number and color, you never know where the ball is going to fall.... So here we are waiting for the ball to stop pinning and drop :) if it falls on the no and color we bet on, we will be the luckiest person at such a time like that :)

If they (CBI) decide to Lop, it will be announced as a currency redenomination with a new ISO code.  People physically holding dinar outside of iraq face several significant difficulties.  1.  the CBI may decide, as they did in 2003, to honor only in-country exchange of bills,  2.  if they open the exchange to outside their borders, you will not be able to exchange at your local bank. you would have to mail in your physical dinars to some internet exchange business.  3.  All your dinars will have to be verified as not counterfeit by the internet exchange business, which in itself poses great risk of fraud and thieft, and 4.  you will have to pay another commission fee per million dinar to exchange.  If the redenomination simply comes in at 1 to 1, which is highly likely for stability reasons, you have not made any money, in fact you have continued to lose money.  An announced redenomination will be a nightmare for out of country dinar holders.

It's been stated that if they delete the zeros, the new exchange rate will be at 86 cents. So even if you are able to exchange your dinar back to USD, you end up just losing money

Honestly, at this point, if they do lop, and reinstate at $3+, we're still making a 3X return, and anyone who gets bent out of shape over that is silly.

the problem with this scenario is making change. The smallest note today is the 50 dinar worth 4 cents US. A 3x would make it 12 cents...so the economy would move in 12 cent increments. I dont think that is manageable... So before a lop we would have to see an ISO release of a 25 and possibly a 10 dinar note/coin at least 3 months in advance. a give away!  I think I found another reason that a 1:1 rv is not possible.

You can't always win in every investment :) I may lose in dollars but I gain friendship and knowledge... To me it's worth it ;)

It's not meant to be a debate

I disagree.  This is a debate over probabilities.  What scenario makes the most fiscal sense to the iraqi parliment, Finance Office and CBI.  Do they RV, RI or RD, or nothing at all, which has been their stance for the last six years.  The M2 is the 800 lb gorilla in the room.

We're not debating what a lop is.  We're attempting to debate the most logical possibility for the iraqi government to make.  So far they have decided to do nothing.  They're just letting the exchange rate ride.  They are under no pressure to make any big decisions on the rate.

I don't care if you agree with me or not.  We are just putting forth what the most logical position of the CBI will be.  So far it appears they are happy to do nothing.  Just let the exchange rate ride.  By the way, congratulations on the Scotland vote.  I'm not sure what was driving that independence debate.  They are essentially independent right now.

I disagree.  I think most dinar investors are somewhat confused about the subject.  All you have to do is listen to how excited they get when reading re-denomination articles or listen to gurus talking about the CBI removing the zeros.

Here comes blooming Sista lopster to let us know how definate those articles are

That's exactly my point, Doc.  That is why debating the logical possibilities is important.  We're not explaining what a lop is, I would hope that everyone understands what lopping zeros off a currency means.  It can only be done with a new ISO code and a new currency.  A new currency must be exchanged for the old currency.  If you are a dinar holder, you do not want to go through that process.  You will be at the mercy of internet dealers.

Go ask anyone if they know what lop means

Everyone does

Their goofy saying they don't

They are saying they don't think it will lop not that they don't know what a lop is

Some one needs to get worried that a hand full of people don't think Iraq is going to lop

If they lop who cares

Then they lop
