Hood Shooter Declares Allegiance to Islamic State Amnesty International released a briefing today on the ethnic cleansing being carried out by the Islamic State in Iraq against Christians, Yazidis (a religion that pre-dates Islam), Shiite Muslims and other minorities. "The massacres and abductions being carried out by the Islamic State provide harrowing new evidence that a wave of ethnic cleansing against minorities is sweeping across northern Iraq,” said Donatella Rovera, Amnesty International’s Senior Crisis Response Adviser, who is currently in northern in Iraq. “The Islamic State is carrying out despicable crimes and has transformed rural areas of Sinjar into blood-soaked killing fields in its brutal campaign to obliterate all trace of non-Arabs and non-Sunni Muslims.” The briefing, titled Ethnic cleansing on historic scale: the Islamic State’s systematic targeting of minorities in northern Iraq, details the horrific massacres and kidnappings of entire populations and the dire conditions of the thousands who were able to flee and have since become refugees. The Islamic State (commonly known by its previous name ISIS, the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria) began its systematic rampage against the minority populations when the brutal Islamist group took over Mosul, the second largest city in Iraq, on June 10. Documenting the stories of survivors, the Amnesty briefing contains first-hand reports of mass executions of hundreds of men and boys. The briefing notes that the fate of hundreds – if not thousands (as reported elsewhere) -- of Yazidi women and girls who were taken by the militants remains unknown. Two of the worst killings took place in the villages of Qiniyeh on August 2 and Kocho on August 15. A survivor from Kocho told Amnesty, “There was no order, they [the IS fighters] just filled up vehicles indiscriminately.” Those taken on the vehicles were shot, including boys as young as 12 years old. Another survivor testified, “Some could not move and could not save themselves; they lay there in agony waiting to die. They died a horrible death. I managed to drag myself away [after being shot] and was saved by a Muslim neighbor; he risked his life to save me.” Previous reports garnered directly from women being held in Mosul’s prisons through smuggled cell phones have revealed that the women and girls have been raped, pressured to convert to Islam and are being sold as slaves. Those who have converted are reportedly being given to Islamic State fighters as “wives.” Rovera also had scathing words for how the Iraqi government has handled the crisis. “Instead of aggravating the fighting by either turning a blind eye to sectarian militias or arming Shi’a militias against the Islamic State as the authorities have done so far, Iraq’s government should focus on protecting all civilians regardless of their ethnicity or religion,” she said. "The people of northern Iraq deserve to live free from persecution without fearing for their lives at every turn. Those ordering, carrying out, or assisting in these war crimes must be apprehended and brought to justice.”
Nelg
And they have just beheaded another reporter, Steven Sotloff. ISIS is throwing their taunts out and calling our POTUS and nation out. What are we going to do? The Pentagon has a plan. All it takes is the president to say, "go" and ISIS will be destroyed.
gymrat76541
Ethnic Cleansing has been happening for hundreds of years in Africa but no one has sent in troops to change things! The only reason the West is concerned is because of the oil! LOL
