Ukraine Crisis :  Boosterbglee reported Ukraine says a column of Russian tanks and armored vehicles has crossed into southeastern Ukraine.  Could be attempt to move on Mariupol, a major port.

 

Israel – Gaza Showdown :  Chess heard Israel says it carried out 16 airstrikes early today, targeted two mosques it said were used by militants.  Says hamas fired 10 rockets into Israel.  Israeli airstrikes level a seven floor office building and severely damage a two story shopping center in Gaza strip.  Strikes come hours after Israel bombed a residential tower in Gaza city, collapsing the 12 story building.  Israel says eight people were killed in the strikes, including a hamas official involved in handling the group’s finances.  Egypt has been calling for an open ended cease fire in Gaza, urging the Palestinians and Israel to return to indirect talks. 

 

Other News : Captl1 reported Pres. Obama to return to the White House Sunday night following a two week vacation in Martha’s Vineyard, MA.  The Pres. Will head to North Carolina on Tuesday to address the American Legion and on Friday will head to fundraisers in NY and RI. Travel to Estonia and Wales is scheduled the following week.

 

Thriver can’t imagine being in 6.0 Magnitude earthquake shake the San Fransisco bay area.  The epicenter was about 6 miles southwest of Napa, CA.  It is the largest quake to hit the bay area since a 6.9 magnitude quake hit Loma Prieta in 1989.  Scores of people have been hospitalized mostly for cuts and bruises.  A number of fires and collapses have been reported.  At least three people are critically injured.  Scientists say aftershocks expected to continue for weeks after Sunday earthquake.  The quake caused gas and water lines to rupture, sparking fires.  Dozens of homes and buildings are unsafe to occupy.  Thousands are without power or water.  Governor Jerry Brown has declared state of emergency.  Damages from Sunday quake could top $1B.

 

Littlesam heard schools near Northern California town of Weaverville closed today due to fast moving wildfire.  600 Homes threatened, 150 evacuated.  Tropical storm Cristobal continues to swirl in the Carribean, moving slowly to north.  Forecasters say Cristobal won’t threaten the US east coast.

 

Funeral today for Michael Brown, unarmed black teen shot by police officer.  Pres. Obama is sending three White House aides, MO Governor Jay Nixon expected to attend.  Thousands of people turned out.

 

Pentagon spokeswoman says a shooter on a Virginia army base did not wound anyone.  Incident at Fort Lee involved a female soldier, no word on her condition.

 

Wiljor jumps for joy when he hears American journalist held captive for nearly two years by al Qaeda Syrian branch has been freed.  Peter Theo Curtis was abducted near the Syria Turkey border in October 2012 and held by the al nusra front, which has broken with ISIS.  This comes less than a week after another American journalist James Loley was beheaded by ISIS militants in a video posted on the internet.  Secy of state John Kerry in a statement “we are all relieved and grateful Curtis is coming home”.  UN says it helped facilitate Curtis’s handoff to peacekeepers in Golan Heights.

 

Adam Montana heard from his intel that Sr. Western intel official says London rapper Abdel Majed Abdel Bary is a suspect in the killing of US journalist James Foley.  Sources say Abdel Bary traveled to Syria last year to fight with ISIS.  Abdel Bary’s father was extradited from London to the US in 2012 for his alleged connection to Osama bin Laden and the 1990 US embassy bombings in Africa.

 

Genx4me attended mass of remembrance being held in NH for James Foley who was kidnapped on Thanksgiving day 2012 while covering the Syrian uprising. 

 

Gggecko reported ISIS fighters capture a major military air base in northeastern Syria, move eliminates the last government held outpost in an area dominated by the extremist group.  Activists say militants broke through the Tabqa air field’s defense on Sunday and routed the government forces.  Syrian state news confirms the government lost the base, saying troops are reassembling after evacuating the airport.

 

French Pres. Hollande dissolves government, open feud with cabinet over economic policy.  Nannab wonders why pediatricians says to let teenagers sleep longer and not to start school until at least 8:30am.  Lack of sleep linked to poor health, bad grades, and car crashes.

 

Dow gained 76 points today.  Energy and financial lead, tech lag.  Stocks close higher, S&P was short by 2 points to break 2000 mark.  Housing data, retail earnings are in focus this week.  Gold closed at $1,284, silver at $19.43, copper at $3.20.  Crude oil at $93.58.

CME group halts Globex trading due to technical problem.  The issue delayed the opening of the overnight session.  Sony says its PlayStation Network was taken down by a denial service attack.  Sony says no personal info compromised.  FBI is investigating a diverted flight that was carrying top Sony executive with a bomb threat on flight.  Burger King in talks with Canadian doughnut chain Tim Hortons about possible merger.  Deal would be structured as tax inversion, with combined firm headquartered in Canada. 

 

Calkid11 wonders what China can’t do.  China could have its own operating system by October, would take on Microsoft, Apple, and Google.  Pulte is buying the real estate assets of Dominion Homes for an undisclosed amount.  Thriver likes the feeling of less pain at pump as average price of gasoline down 4 cents in past 2 weeks, gallon of regular now is $3.48… it was $3.23 in my area J

 

A-J516 can’t believe the original Superman comic, Action comic #1 sells for record $3.2M on eBay.  Amazon buying Twitch for $975M, Google reported had deal to buy company.  Exact Sciences (EXAS) says its colon cancer screening test will be launched at Mayo Clinic, available to patients through doctors.  Stock went up 4%, closing at $21.04.  Digital Ally Inc (DGLY) rose 57%, closed at $12.50 after Ferguson shooting.   DGLY makes a body camera used by police officers.  Achillion Pharma (ACHN) gained 10%, closed at $10.78 after US patent granted them a patent for their hepatitis C drugs.

 

Switzerland’s Roche to buy US based biotech InterMune (ITMN) for $8.3B in cash.  The deal is worth $74/share, 38% above Friday’s closing price.  TransCanada (TRP) attractive alternative to overbought US pipeline MLPs, could be worth $69 in a breakup.  Blackberry (BBRY) won another court victory against Typo Products, maker of a Blackberry-like keyboard that fits on iPhone.  Insys Thera (INSY) says FDA gives orphan drug status to its treatment for malignant brain tumors.

 

ReinMan is eyeing Avalanche Biotech (AAVL) initiated outperform at Cowen & Co.  US Steel (X) is upgraded to outperform from underperform at Credit Suisse with target price at $45.  Activist investor Nelson Peltz’s push to have Pepsi spin off Frito-Lay unit, could be worth $144/share. Endologix (ELGX) upgraded to buy from neutral at BTIG with target price $17.  CBOE Holdings (CBOE) raised to outperform from market perform at Raymond James with target price $60. 

 

From Dinar land : Joint Chiefs Chair General Martin Dempsey says US will act if ISIS becomes a threat to US.  He still thinks group is more of a regional threat.  Waves of attacks in and around Baghdad kills at least 43.  Deadliest attack is suicide bomber among Shiite worshippers leaving a mosque.  Vietnam1969 reported ISIL is getting desparate and frustrated of losing the grounds and now committing acts of terror inside the cities.  Sandfly is taking a much needed rest after firing Tbomb relentlessly.  Security forces pushed ISIL back as they tried to storm Beiji refinery.  ISIL tries to take over power plants, refineries and dams as source of income.  It is reported ISIL is selling 20,000 barrels per day at $25/barrel.   The Sunnis decided to freeze the talks with Abadi following  the mass killings of Sunni worshippers on Friday.  Reports say Shiite militias commited this horrific act but many say it is more likely to be ISIL trying to create havoc among tribes. 

 

Saint heard PM desisgnate Haider Abadi says he is optimistic to form a united and inclusive government in allotted time given to him.  He also added that he is working to resolve the differences between KRG & GOI.

 

In spite of the violence in Iraq,  a group of Arab companies and businessmen want to establish a “unioin” or consortium to promote Iraq’s interests in its economic recovery especially in agriculture.  The President of the Union, Yasser Qubaisi said this fertile region should become self sufficient as soon as possible.  He added the union will act as a promoter to raise capital and invite investors.

 

From rumor land : Chattels says the formation of the government and our event are not necessarily the same.  Jester says things that were not possible before are now apparently underway.  Tman23 says all countries like Italy, France, Germany, US, and Britain have interest in Iraq and jockeying for position.  Frank26 says look for it around 9-10 September.  TerryK says his source said this has to be done no later than 31st of this month.  TNT Tony knows it’s going to happen and we are close.  Millionday says the government is responsible to work with CBI and private banks.  They are obviously moving to a market economy.  Kaperoni says CBI has kept dinar stable and done so keeping a lid on money laundering.  Eagle1 believes it’s not going to go past this month.  Exogen believes it’s here

You are welcome.. I was going to post it last night but couldn't do it lol too tired and couldn't do the finishing touches :)  indeed... we are in the very interesting time.. I am not a gloom and doom person but also not burying my head in the sand :) the most important thing is that we hear His voice clearly in what we need to do :)
