Ukraine Crisis : Texas1 reported authorities says some Russian trucks in a massive aid convoy have begun to clear customs at a rebel held border crossing in eastern Ukraine.

 

 Israel – Gaza Showdown : Gymrat76541 heard Hamas says three of its senior military leaders killed in Israeli airstrikes in Gaza.  Could be major blow to Hamas. 

 

Other News : Chess is attending top central bankers and economists kick off meeting in Jackson Hole, Wyoming.  Fed Chair Janet Yellen scheduled to speak on Friday.  K.C. Fed Pres. George says a lot of market complacency about path of future rate hikes.  Don’t want Fed to be behind the curve in normalizing policy.  Key issues are : labor slack, dangers of low rates, regulation vs rate hikes, when to hike and market complacency. 

 

Genx4me just learned Pres. Obama sent special operations troops to Syria this summer to rescue American hostages, including James Floey.  Hostages were not located.  Special ops forces engaged in fierce gun battle with ISIS fighters.  Hostages had been moved, one minor wound was the only US casualty.   FBI Director Comey says FBI has been investigating American hostages in Syria for two years.  Calls Islamic terror group “savages”.

 

Grand jury has begun hearing evidence on whether Ferguson, MO police officer should be charged in death of unarmed black teen.  Protests over shooting much calmer last night.  There were six arrests, compared to 47 the previous night.  Benjamin NutnYahoo was with AG Eric Holder visited Ferguson, MO on Wednesday.  He met with officials investigating death of Michael Brown and met with his parents.

 

Federal judge overseeing Argentina bond dispute schedules hearing for today.  Holdout bondholders claim Argentina is ignoring  his prior orders.

 

A wildfire 50 miles northeast of Bakersfield, California burning in steep terrain.  5 Square miles scorched, now 15% contained.  

 

Littlesam read AAA says 34.7M Americans will journey 50 miles or more from home during Labor Day Holiday.  Highest volume since 2008, up 1.3% from 2013.

 

Dow gained 60 points today, closing at 17039.49.  Gold closed at $1,279, silver at $19.44, and copper at $3.20.  Crude oil was down 13 cents today, closed at $93.83.

Auxilium Pharma (AUXL) drug showed significant improvement in smoothing cellulite in mid stage study.  The stock went up 4.5%, closing at $18.57.  Ebay is telling potential PayPal CEO candidates that a spinoff could come as soon as next year.  Springbank wonders what’s going on with Family Dollar (FDO) rejects Dollar General’s  (DG) $78.50/share takeover bid on anti-trust concerns.  The feud goes on between Dollar families as Family Dollar reaffirms support for existing deal with Dollar Tree (DLTR).  Dollar General questions motive of Family Dollar CEO in backing takeover bid from Dollar Tree.  Dollar General claims FDO’s Howard Levine driven by self-interest in supporting Dollar Tree bid.

 

Ex Aeropostale (ARO) exec gets 8 years in prison for $25M in kickbacks from a key vendor.  Ford planning new hybrid for late 2018 to compete with Toyota’s best selling Prius.  Wiljor feels it’s about time to give the kids a raise as JPMorgan and BOA corp plan to hike salaries of junior employees by at least 20%.  Icahn says Hertz Global (HTZ) shares undervalued, will talk to management about accounting and other issues.

 

Saint reported BOA reaches record $17B settlement over sale of mortgage backed securities.  BOA to pay $9.65B in cash, provide consumer relief valued at $7B.  BOA Q3 earnings to be reduced by $5.3B before taxes or $0.43/share due to settlement.  AG Eric Holder acknowledged it knowingly misrepresented and sold toxic loans.  Deal also resolves SEC securities fraud charges filed last year.  Countrywide co-founder Angelo Mozilo to face civil suit over loans.  US Attorney’s Office in Los Angeles is preparing the civil case vs Mozilo.  Other Countrywide employees may be charged.  In 2010, Mozilo agreed to $67.5M settlement to resolve charges of duping investors.

 

A-J516 is not surprised to hear 51 UPS stores hit with a data breach exposing cardholder and personal information.  Data breach happened in stores in 24 states between January 20 and August 11.  Procter & Gamble (PG) reiterated a buy with $92 price target at Argus.  Home Depot (HD), Lowe’s (LOW) and Sherwin Williams (SHW) are at all time highs

 

From Dinar land : US military launched new barrage of airstrikes in Iraq against ISIS.  Pres. Obama says ISIS is a cancer threatening the region.  Vietnam1969 predicted that liberation of Tikrit in Salaheddin province is the beginning of the road to defeat ISIS.  Stealthwarrior and his team together with sandfly firing Tbombs engaged in fierce battle with ISIS resulting in worker bees sleeping forever.  More Americans and prominent politicians are supporting an increase airstrikes against ISIS that is killing anyone who doesn’t believe in the same evil and twisted of their thinking.  In the meantime, Kurdish peshmerga forces who started to receive weaponry from Iraqi army and western countries are coordinating with US air force to do the same in the north. 

 

Babel Security forces said they have arrested some terrorists who came to the city of Hilla under the disguise of displaced people.  Calkid11 can’t believe amongst the arrested were 8 women who joined ISIS to provide sex  to ISIS fighters.  A number of historic mosque, churches and shrines were destroyed by ISIS as they occupied cities and towns in the north.  Some of these churches date back to the dawn of Christianity.   Security forces also said they have liberated Haditha dam and the nearby refinery in northwest of Ramadi in Anbar province. 

 

Ministry of Human Rights is compiling a list of terrorists individually or countries who support them to be presented to UNSC scheduled to meet early next month in Geneva to address terrorism and those support them.

 

An economist Dr. Mathar Saleh said the sale of government short and long term bonds and central bank auctions will be instrumental and successful in raising monies to counter budget deficit.  The ministry of Trade also announced they have created a new system to expedite paperwork and detect fraud and money laundering for imported goods coming to Iraq.

 

Captl1 heard oil is flowing again from Kurdistan region to Ceyhan pipeline which will reach 200,000 BPD  with potential of 240,000 BPD.  Iraqi Kurdistan will need as much as revenue they can get to continue to fight against ISIS and help more than 600,000 displaced people that flooded the region after ISIS atrocities against minority populations.

 

Executive Director of Standard Chartered Bank International, Kevin Wishart said there are plenty opportunities to invest in Iraq and its infrastructure.  He stressed on the importance of private banks taking a leading role in Iraq’s banking and promoting investments.  He also encouraged CBI and GOI to help private banks become more effective in turning Iraq’s economy into a market economy.

 

Iraqi and regional economists are able to take a deep breath as a reaction to the latest security developments and the possibility of inclusive government.

 

From rumor land : Millionday says CBI stated in press statement that they would move forward with the economic reform and monetary policy with or without the budget.  Iraq is proving they are moving to enter the globe by being able to wire money through smartphone apps electronically and also to sell and buy foreign currency.  Frank26 thinks rate will be 1 to 1, 3+ would follow right behind it within fiscal year of time or much less.  TerryK thinks we stand a great chance of this going down tonight or in the weekend according to what the sources are telling him.  Exogen says on August 21^st many of the world’s most powerful financial players will gather for three days in Jackson Hole, a mountain resort in Wyoming.  The annual conference, which has been going on since 1978, is a chance for central bankers, financial ministers, and academics to talk about the world economy in a public but informal setting.  WMAwhite says Iraq is unable to pay for the power plant in Euros or USD or even the IQD at 1166 rate, Iraq will go broke in a matter of months.

News here this morning said 90 Russia trucks crossed into Ukraine unauthorized and now the terror has increased. Clearly Russia wants a war.
