Ukraine Crisis : Umbertino reported Russian aid convoy continuing toward Ukraine.  Vehicles appear to be heading toward city of Luhansk, controlled by pro Russian separatists.  Pres. Putin says Russia would do its utmost to stop bloodshed in Ukraine.  He does not want war or confrontation.  He spoke in Crimea, which Russia annexed.

 

 Israel – Gaza Showdown : Wiljor heard 5 Day extension of Gaza truce appears to be holding.  Longest cease fire since war broke out last month.  Violence briefly spiked yesterday before truce was extended.  Palestinian negotiators in Cairo now optimistic for roadmap on longer truce.

 

Other News :  Littlesam read more violence overnight in Ferguson, MO following police shooting of unarmed black teen.  People threw Molotov cocktails, police used tear gas and made arrests.  Virgin America flight attendants vote in favor of joining unioin.  First union for Virgin, marks end of last non union US airline.

 

South Korean says North Korea fires projectiles into the sea.  Test firings come as Pope Francis arrives for first papal visit to South Korea in 25 years.  Calkid11 feels good to hear US to deliver more weapons to help bolster the Lebanese military.  ISIS militants overran a Lebanese town near the Syrian border, killing and kidnapping soldiers.

 

Captl1 wonders if there is good deal out there as foreclosure activities jumped in July for the first time in four months, up 2% from June.  Still 16% below year ago level.

 

Dow gained 62 points at trading today.  Technology lagging, healthcare and utility stocks among best performance.  Gold closed at $1,313, silver at $19.86, copper at $3.10.

Overstock (OSTK) CEO expects to do $1M in bitcoin sales a month this year.  Plug Power  (PLUG) swings to profit in Q2, beating estimates, sales more than doubled on rising fuel cell demand.   Warren Buffet’s Berkshire Hathaway Class A (BRKa) stock trading at over $200,000 a share for first time ever.  Stocks climb as Putin comments calm market jitters.

 

Tesla Motors (TSLA), electric car maker started with outperform rating, $325 price target at Credit Suisse.  CI Financial (BNK) begins trading today offering 2.6M shares at $17/share.  Netflix announces 4 new exclusive stand-up comedy specials, including one starring Bill Cosby which is genx4me favorite show.

 

Saint hopes Newlink Genetics (NLNK) says its possible Ebola vaccine has been 100% effective in non human primates.  The stock went up 11%, closing at $26.17.  Tekmira Pharma (TKMR) CEO says may make more of experimental Ebola drug, but would take months.  The stock went down 11%, closing at $16.50.

 

From Dinar land : Defense Sec. Hagel says it’s less likely operation needed to rescue ethnic Iraqis from ISIS.  Fewer refugees than originally thought in area,  some able to escape because of US airstrikes.  US military team was on the ground to assess situation.  The refugees stranded in the mountains are in better condition because of food, water and other supplies dropped on the mountain.  Sandfly still firing Tbombs to keep ISIS at bay.  US objective is to protect the Yazidis and to stop ISIS going to Erbil, the capital of Kurdistan which has been a success but it doesn’t mean that ISIS drive to control more territory is contained.  US officials and Pres. Obama repeated their position for not sending troops on the ground, but airstrikes meant to help Iraqi army and Kurdish Peshmerga to fight against ISIS. 

 

Viciousdoggie is happy to hear more countries have pledged to send arms to the Kurds in addition to humanitarian aid.  Britain, France, Canada and Australia have said they will participate. Iraqi forces has taken control of the bridge connecting two provinces. Iraqi forces with the help of residents managed to put 65 worker bees to sleep and airstrikes by Iraqi air force putting more worker bees to sleep.  Security Intelligence said they have found a large sophisticated “command and control” equipment designed to avoid detection.

 

Millionaire In Training heard UN declares highest level of humanitarian crisis for people displaced by Iraq fighting.  Will trigger addition goods, funds and assets to help people.  Pentagon says militants’ siege on mountain in Iraq is over.  Secy Kerry taking a break from crisis, turns to Asia and Pacific. 

 

New PM Abadi has received many well wishes from leaders around the world in forming a new inclusive government that will be accepted by Sunnis, Kurds and Shiites.   Schools might not open as scheduled as many schools have been used as shelters for displaced people. 

 

Wasit Provincial Council said it has distributed in excess of 660 donations to displaced families coming from Mosul.  Wasit has hosted more than 10,000 displaced people since June.  Billions of Dinars have been allocated to help the needy due to the crisis created by ISIS.  Okane gives thumbs up for other provinces are following Wasit’s footstep in effort to help displaced people.

 

The Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs said it has been studying the increased wage paid to laborers and employees across the board has met inflationary needs.  The new formula is under consideration as to be fair to all members of society.  It is expected hundreds of billions of Dinars will be allocated to that end and it will be money well spent as it will be recycled into the Iraqi economy and will give the public more purchasing power .

 

Major oil companies from US, Russia and China agree that Iraq’s oil production and exportation will continue to fuel the Iraqi economy despite some interruption in the north.  Iranian officials said Iranian exports to Iraq has doubled in the last two months. Iraq imported about $1B of Iranian manufactured goods last year through Mehran terminal.

 

From rumor land : Aggiedad77 says to continue watch the news especially CBI.  Poppy3 thinks we will see the rv within this month as long as Iraq continues on their focus and keep moving forward.  Jester thinks something is happening in the banking.  Lojak says Maliki is out. Tman23 says Maliki has become a moot point, that’s why Abadi is meeting with Kurds in Kurdistan.  Chattels says it’s official Maliki steps down.   Millionday says it is reported CBI has printed lower denom and they will begin to exchange by the end of the month in the plan to remove the 3 zero currency.  Frank26 believes the rate will be 1 to 1. TNT Tony says Maliki gives a farewell speech alongside successor Abadi.  Tlar says Maliki is out and rumor said he accepted a deal.  He has been granted some part of immunity deal and has agreed to leave Iraq.  The clock will start on the first verifiable news that Maliki is gone.  Within 48 hours, Turki will pull the trigger…. I loved this spin today cause it means Maliki is gone and we may have a vaccine for Ebola, fingers crossed. Well with more countries giving both arms and humanitarian aid to Iraq we may see this ISIS infestation gone soon. Thanks Nadita for the great spin as always. :bravo:

Hi "N" good morning, looks like the news is getting more positive in our favor and things seem to be moving forward now at a good pace, let's hope it continues that way. The quicker they get ISIS and the other extremist groups out of the way Iraq can bring in the international community at a more predominant pace.
