Good morning and HAPPY HUMP DAY!
 
I'll waste no time and get right into it:
 
Forward motion on the budget, which says to 
me that in spite of the issues with ISIS and 
lack of a chosen PM, Iraq is still moving in

One of the questions I'm getting a LOT is "Do 
they even have to ever pick a new PM?!"
 
:lol: - I guess they don't have to make any 
kind of decision, but they are moving forward 
with the process and it's on pace to be done 
around the end of the month, which is also right

To further address the issue of moving forward 
in picking a PM, forming government, and just 
general progress - Ban Ki-moon (United Nations 
Secretary General) will be in Baghdad tomorrow:
 
And last but not least, possibly one of the

Overall summary: While we obviously don't have 
an RV yet (Oh you Lopsters! Right again!), the 
big picture remains one of progress and resilience. 
 
As we approach the end of Ramadan and we continue 
to see positive action in Parliament/GOI/etc, I 
continue to stay hopeful that we're on the edge 
of something big, and soon.

I don't believe so at all. In fact, the opposite - if they had 
RV'd too soon they could have severely sabotaged their 
ability to maintain the new rate, and that wouldn't have 
been good for anyone. :twocents:
 

429  Adam, I think we're all waiting with bated breath to see what happens in parliament on Wednesday, 7/23.
 
    News article out on Tuesday indicates that parliament is going into Wednesday without the usual wink, wink, nudge, nudge, Achmed's your uncle and the Presidency's already decided.
    Only time will tell, but is Iraq finally going to get past the sectarian divide?
    What effect will getting past the sectarian divide have for getting things like HCL, a budget and improving terms between Baghdad and Erbil?
    What about Kirkuk? Will it stay in Kurdistan or revert to (my words) Arab-Iraq?
 
So how are the Packers looking for the pre-season?
 
Just trying to keep it real.

 

 

Lots of things happening in the right direction at this time! 
As you said, "time will tell"... I'll leave it at that.
 
About the Packers - they are currently ranked #5 in order 
of most likely to win the Superbowl by Vegas odds, so I'd 
say things are looking good in Titletown too!

countryroads   Adam. The shadows of summer are starting to grow longer, as we grow closer to another year without closure and still are faced with the imaturity of Iraq's government. My question is: are there any people in the government who have the power and the courage to unite the government and do what needs to be done? Or do all of the members of parliment have the same attitude as Maliki? I sure wouldn't want to see that happen because if it did I believe that it would be time to break camp and go home. That would make the entire investment very, very risky.
What your opinion?

My opinion is that there is a lot of upside in this and I don't think anyone 

wants to raise the value of the currency more than Iraq. It's easy to get 

down on the prospects of a profit here when you look at it through a small 

window, but the big picture shows that they are continually making progress 

in the right direction.


coorslite21    Adam, I realize this is "Dinar" Vets, however, would you care to share any thoughts on the VND.... (Dong).......ZWD....(Zimbabwean Dollar).....IDR (Indonesian Rupiah)...    KRD...(South Korean Won).....or perhaps any of the Central African Currencies...?

There's always money to be made (and lost!) in currency! I don't have any 
that I like as much as IQD though. 
 
 
new york kevin    Por favor:  For the sake of summarizing in one spot: is Maliki going to resign or is he just in discussions to resign? Will he likely be pushed out of his Priministership and by whom and why? Who is President, Vice President(s), Speaker(s), Security Minister etc? From which parties are they? Who is soon likely to be Prime Minister? What does this means for Maliki, the ISIS conflict, and more importantly for our hopeful prosperious futures? How much more time do you think it all may take?

 

NYK, I won't pretend to know who will be sitting in what seat at the end of the 

month... but I'm confident that no matter how it shakes out, we're still going 

the right direction. That's the best I can do on that matter.

This is like boarding on the airplane and before take off, it has to have maintenance  lol  When it takes off, it will go to higher altitude, pick up the speed and with a good tail wind, lands at the destination just a few minutes late.  

 

Have been in two like that :)

Probably so, Rod... It's now or never  like the King used to sing... ( US version of "O Sole Mio"). My Mother used to have that record ( the EP one)... Still recall  the 45 rpm cover.. This one exactly.... Memories ( I was like  6 or 7 yo).. A li'l tear .....
