World News : Genx4me reported Hamas rejects Egypt’s proposal for cease-fire with Israel.  Israeli cabinet had accepted the plan to end week of fighting.  Egypt cease-fire plan called for hostilities between Israel and Hamas to end today which would be followed by talks on easing Gaza border blockade. Militants from Gaza fired about 50 rockets at Israel today.  Israeli military says it resumed airstrikes in Gaza after Hamas rejected cease-fire.  At least 21 dead, over 136 injured after subway train derails in Moscow.  Power surge triggered an alarm, causing train to stop abruptly.  Officials probing possibility of sunken roadbed.  Explosion near mosque and market in Afghanistan kills at least 89, wounds scores of others.  All victims were civilians, no claim of responsibility.

 

Other News : Snowglobe7 heard Fed Chair Yellen spoke today.  In her speech, she said jobless rate remains above estimates of longer run normal level.  Labor force participation rate remains weaker than one would expect.  GOP Q1 declined mostly due to path of Fed funds rate remains dependent on incoming information., whereas Q2 suggests production and spending rebound but bear watching.  Fed to end asset purchases after October meeting if data supports.  Housing sector has shown little progress and it has been disappointing for this year activity. Inflation is up in recent months, still below FOMC’s 2% long run target.   Economy activity to expand at moderate pace over next several years.  US retail sales driven lower by weak auto sales.  She added funds rate will go up sooner if job market improves more quickly.  She further said even though economy is improving , recovery is not yet complete.  Boosterbglee wonders what scientists mean by saying better education and controlling health risks, make rates of Alzheimer’s disease and other dementia falling in the US and some other rich countries.  Chess can’t believe Little obe pushing Congress to shore up funding for highways and transportation.  He also touts safety research on vehicles that talk to each other.  House GOP to recommend national guards at the border and speedier returns of Central American youths.  It will trim little obe’s $3.7B spending request for border.

 

Dow gained 5 points at trading today.  The Machino is waiting for gold to go down more than what closed today at $1296, silver at $20.76, copper at $3.25.  Lionsgate and Alibaba to launch subscription streaming service in China.  Lionsgate Entertainment world to include Hunger Games, Mad Men, Twilight which starts in August.  A-J516 is waiting for Alibaba  which chose NYSE to debut their IPO in August.  Captl1 is happy Lockheed Martin’s (LMT) troubled F-35 fighter jet gets okay to fly but disappointed as it won’t be at UK airshow.  The stock went up a bit at today’s trading.  GoPro gained 5% at trading today, closed at $41.93.  GoPro call price for July is $45.  Sotheby’s teaming with eBay to start streaming live auctions online.  Most Sotheby’s NY auctions will stream on new online platform on eBay; may add online only sales. VW says it will build a new seven passenger SUV at its Chattanooga, TN factory which will create 2,000 jobs.  Google’s YouTube to raise money from producers to fund premium content.  Staples pulling the plug with USPS to end pilot program for mini post offices inside stores.

 

From Dinar land : Vietnam1969 is happy as he is getting help from Sunni tribal forces who are cooperating now with Iraq’s security forces to liberate city of Tikrit from ISIL’s claws.  Stealthwarrior reported a lot of worker bees were put to sleep and with Sandfly’s help in the air, firing TBomb to destroy alien’s camps and their weapons.  Sunni tribal’s change of direction to go against ISIL could be because their belief is not the same as ISIL and also because of Saudi influence after ISIL declared the founding of Islamic state for the world.  Civilians who fled from Kirkud said they are fed up with ISIL nightmare.  It’s only a matter of time before all tribals ban together to go after ISIL.  Thriver read today’s parliament session elected Salim al-Jabouri as the house speaker.  Jabouri received 194 votes and MP Haidar al-Ibadi for Deputy Speaker, after Chalibi withdrew his nomination as First Deputy Speaker.  Deputy Minister of P&D said they are taking measures to minimize red tapes on goods coming into Iraq.  He concluded that food staples price are and will be steady during the ongoing military operations.  Ministry of Electric is busy rushing to restore electricity using temporary generators before power is connected again to the main grid.  Calkid11 met with Iraqi Private Businessmen Assc, whose said the election of a moderate Sunni to head the parliament is welcome news and a positive move towards an inclusive unity government.  One of the businessmen who liked to remain anonymous said he has no doubt Iraq will stand on its feet again sooner than what people think.  ISIL will be defeated and pushed back because everybody is now against them.

 

From Rumor land: Millionday says it’s good to see the religious leader Sistani asking Maliki to step down.  Poppy3 is getting excited again as he can see an end to this long wait as Iraq is meeting and producing progress.  Tlar thinks it will take a few days voting everyone in but the PM and there is still hope for Maliki resignation.  Sistani has given ultimatum for the resignation of Maliki otherwise he will pick the nominee for PM if he has to. Tlar added Turki says the reserves are out of the country and tucked safely.  He is waiting for a fully seated GOI, in the meantime, it’s business as usual for Turki.   Chattels believes most anything is possible but he would be surprised if a complete government is seated today.  Mt. Goat thinks we could possibly have all of the three presidents seated by end of the week if no interference or arguments arise.  They must choose a president within 30 days after electing a speaker which the clock starts ticking today.  Their constitutional deadline is August 29th.  From the desk of Stryker J  says he really likes where we are right now.  Today in Parliament, a Sunni elected as speaker of the house, MP Salin-al,  State Law Coalition – First Chair Speaker is Haider Abadi and  the Kurds, Aram Sheikh Mohammad as the Second Speaker Chairman.  President process starts now.

 

Wildfire in the West are being helped by hot and dry weather plus sparks from lighning  making wilfires in Oregon, Northern California, Idaho.  Whereas summer cool down hitting Midwest as polar air pushing south from Canada could drive some temperatures into the 40s.  Millions are facing severe thunderstorms.  California is in the valley of decision on waste not or want not.  Regulators are considering $500 fine for people who waste water.  Rules will ban watering landscaping, washing cars without a shut-off nozzle.
