US secretary of state risks Israeli anger with warning that absence of peace deal with Palestinians could lead towards apartheid-style situation

Israel risks evolving into an apartheid state if it fails to negotiate a two-state solution with the Palestinians to end the historic Jewish-Arab conflict, John Kerry, the US secretary of state has warned.

The highly inflammatory remarks, which seemed certain to provoke an angry reaction from Israeli leaders, followed last week's near collapse of American-brokered peace talks, which Mr Kerry has energetically promoted.

Speaking at a meeting of senior international figures last Friday, America's top diplomat said it was essential to pursue the two-state solution - commonly defined as Israel existing alongside a sovereign, independent Palestine - to avoid dire consequences.

"A two-state solution will be clearly underscored as the only real alternative," said Mr Kerry, according to the Daily Beast, which broke the story. "Because a unitary state winds up either being an apartheid state with second class citizens - or it ends up being a state that destroys the capacity of Israel to be a Jewish state." His remarks were made during a closed-door session of the trilateral commission, which included senior US, Western European, Russian and Japanese officials.

Although Israeli officials have previously issued warnings about the dangers of a nascent apartheid-type arrangement - referring to the country's continued military occupation of the West Bank, whose Palestinian inhabitants have lesser rights than Jewish settlers - this is believed to be the first time a serving US official has used the term in an Israel context.

The remarks were given added piquancy by being disclosed on the eve of Holocaust remembrance day, when Israel commemorates the deaths of six million Jews at the hands of the Nazis during the Second World War.

Mr Kerry was speaking after Benjamin Netanyahu's government on Thursday suspended negotiations with the Palestinians in protest at a unity accord agreed between Mahmoud Abbas, president of the Palestinian Authority, and the Islamist Hamas group, which Israel considers a terrorist organisation.

The US secretary of state said he was considering imposing his own peace plan on the two parties on a take-it-or-leave-it basis.

He also said a change of Israeli or Palestinian leadership could raise the chances of a negotiated agreement and criticised Israel for announcing 14,000 new settlers homes in the West Bank and East Jerusalem since peace talks began last July.

It is not the first time Mr Kerry has made remarks that Israeli officials considered to be provocative. He was accused of paying lip-service to anti-Semitism when he warned in February of the dangers of a delegitimisation campaign that included calls for an economic boycott of Israel.

Last November, Israeli officials hit out angrily after he referred to the dangers of a third Palestinian intifada [uprising] in the absence of a peace agreement.

I just returned from two weeks in Israel. I utilized every opportunity to engage the people there, including members of the IDF, in conversation about their perceptions of our current administration. I can tell you that the people of Israel consider our administration a joke. They realize that their main enemy is not the Palestinians but Barak Hussein. The only disagreement they have is whether the missteps of US foreign policy toward Israel are due to ineptitude, stupidity or downright antisemitism. From all indications, Netanyahu correctly understands that Israel is now on its own against the world.

Israel is truly becoming an oasis in the Middle East, an island of sanity in a sea of madness. The only Arabs I saw that have a life worth living are those who are Israeli citizens. The West Bank looks like Detroit, and pretty much every other place that is run by people with the values and philosophies of those like Obama, Kerry and their ilk.

What these ignorant leaders of the world do not understand is the land of Israel, the Jews, and Jerusalem belong to God and not to the nations.

Whoever touches Israel touches the heart of God, the covenants of God, and the apple of God's eyes.

All nations that seek to destroy Israel, will soon learn that the God of Israel will have the last word.

The Lord nullifies the counsel of the nations:  He frustrates the plans of the peoples.  The counsel of the LORD stands forever, The plans of His heart from generations to generations.  Psalm 33:10-11

So no matter what these nations declares: " The counsel of the LORD stands forever"

And God said: " I will bless those who bless you, and curse those who curse you." Genesis 12:3

Unfortunately many fail to make a connection, because they do not know or believe the word of God regarding Israel.

Human history is littered with the ashes of the nations who cursed, persecuted and sought to destroy the Jewish people.

EVERY NATION MUST MAKE A CHOICE, EITHER THEY ARE FOR GOD'S PEOPLE OR THEY ARE AGAINST THEM.

This administration has shown us differently.  America will not be Blessed with this leadership.
