OBAMA, HOLDER TO PLACE GOOD GUYS WITH GUNS IN SCHOOLS

CNN reports that President Obama is "putting millions of dollars into funding armed police officers in schools around the country, an idea not far removed from a National Rifle Association proposal."

According to CNN, on September 27 the DOJ announced $45 million in funding meant to "create 356 new school resource officer positions."

The $45 million will be distributed in the form of Community Oriented Policing Services (COPS) grants. One of the earliest grants will be to Newtown, Connecticut, to create two new officers for Newtown schools.

In a statement corresponding with the announcement of COPS grants, Attorney General Eric Holder said, "In the wake of past tragedies, it's clear that we need to be willing to take all possible steps to ensure that our kids are safe when they go to school."

On December 21st—eight days after the heinous crime at Sandy Hook Elementary—NRA executive director Wayne LaPierre put forth the need for a stronger armed presence in schools. He pointed out that we "protect our banks... airports, office buildings, power plants, [and] sports stadiums" with "armed security," yet leave our kids unprotected in gun free zones.

He said this situation needs to change, adding: "The only things that stops a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun." Obama's new funding will put more good guys with guns in schools.

They are responsible for all the recent mass shootings that were orchestrated to promote gun control..............yes and newtown, and don't forget about "fast and furious" (there 1st failed scheme that was intended to blame US FFL's for guns in cartels hands.) & benghazi......etc..............

One can only wonder.... WTF?!?!  Certainly what happened at Sandy Hook (given the assumption it did for sake of discussion).... what happened was tragic... and the truth is, statistically, so insignificant, relative to the other issues challenging the health of our children... One can only wonder wtf??! Is this some new ploy to get armed federal agents into local communities?? I hate to sound paranoid, and I would nonetheless like to know these armed peeps work for when they are on the job.

The US is something like 48th in the WORLD for infant mortality.... that's whole lot of kids who won't live to be safe at school.... bullying at school is pandemic and out of hand, ...... and funding for sports and arts is abysmal.....

I haven't seen a gun in our office building, (though state police are charged with protecting those who inhabit it) had no idea all power plants had guns on board... and once and a great while, have seen an off duty cop moonlighting in the airports.... (if ever in some)..... maybe LAX, SFO, LGA,ORD, ATL, DFW and the like..... but most of them.... not really...
