Planet Resource Recovery's Newly Reformulated PetroLuxus HC Highly Effective on Kuwaiti Weathered Oil Sludge

HOUSTON, TX, Jun 26, 2013 (Marketwired via COMTEX) -- Planet Resource Recovery, Inc. (pinksheets:PRRY) is pleased to announce its newly reformulated PetroLuxus HC (Heavy Crude) has been shown to be highly effective when used to treat weathered Kuwaiti Oil Sludge, based on the results from Independent Laboratory Tests. These Independent Laboratory results show that adding PetroLuxus HC to currently accepted field remediation practices can significantly simplify and improve the recovery of oil in open air sludge pits.

PetroLuxus HC, certified to NSF/ANSI Standard 60 - Chemicals used in the treatment of potable water, is a multi-modal liquid compound formulated to dislodge contaminates from heavy crude oil streams, sludge pits and oil contaminated soils, resulting in a higher grade oil product with improved flow characteristics. In addition to dramatically improving the flow characteristics of heavy oil, PetroLuxus HC also helps reduce entrained water, paraffin, heavy metals, particulate matter, acidity and sulfur. This results in the production of a higher grade product, while also reducing negative environmental impacts. PetroLuxus HC reduces negative environmental impact by enabling the separation and collection of undesirable contaminants, using less energy and simplifying the contaminants disposal.

An Environmental Remediation Company has been working with this particular Kuwaiti heavy oil project for the last three years. The company provided Planet Resource raw samples of the hydrocarbons directly from the sludge pit in Kuwait, which contains an estimated 1 million barrels of recoverable crude oil. These samples were used to determine if the introduction of PetroLuxus HC into their recovery process would enhance efficiencies and economics. The raw samples of the weathered crude are an amalgamation of Eocene crude, Ratawi Crude, sludge, sand, heavy metals, salts and water. It is estimated that the crude oil has been in the pit up to 40 years, where it has been subjected to the harsh desert climate of heat, sun and sand storms.

The current remediation process for this weathered crude consists of extracting the crude from the pit, blending it with diesel to enable the crude to flow and processing the mixture through a centrifuge to remove impurities. Planet laboratory technicians followed the same protocol in their Texas lab setting with the introduction of PetroLuxus HC after blending the crude with diesel and eliminating the centrifuge phase. The PetroLuxus HC treatment rendered the very positive results described below:

API Gravity: is a measure of how heavy or light a petroleum liquid is compared to water. The higher the API gravity the more desirable the liquid is for refineries. Raw Samples measured negative 5.9 API. After processing with PetroLuxus HC the API rose significantly to 20.5 API Gravity.

BS&W: Basic sediment and water is a technical specification of certain impurities in crude oil. Most Oil Refineries will not buy crude oil that has a 1% or more BSW. The Raw crude sample measured 2.6% BS&W. After processing with PetroLuxus HC the BS&W were reduced to 0.

Inorganic Chlorides: Salts are extremely corrosive to refining equipment and must be reduced prior to the refining process. The raw crude samples measured 168,000 ppm Inorganic Chlorides. After treatment with PetroLuxus HC the salts were reduced to 1,200 ppm, a 140:1 decrease.

Total Acid Number: is an important quality measurement of crude oil. The TAN value provides an indication to the crude oil refinery of the potential corrosion problems to be considered. The raw crude samples measured 0.8 ml/gm KOH. After treatment the TAN was reduced to 0.08 ml/gm KOH, or a 10:1 reduction.

Enrique Salinas, President & CEO of Planet Resource, stated, "The planet is littered with vast quantities of sludge pits that represent a truly global problem. In addition to helping resolve the crude sludge problem, the newly reformulated PetroLuxus HC can be used to recapture the crude and remediate the soil contaminated by oil spills. We look forward to advancing the implementation of our product with this environmental remediation company and tapping into this vast market."
