I think we all know someone who has Been diagnosed with one of the degenerative diseases, looks like research has found prions to be the cause...he provides many more research links with.

The primary transmission of prion diseases is ingestion of prions from the Central Nervous System (Brain, Eyes, Spine and Spinal Fluid) of animals. These unwanted ‘left overs’ were used in animal ‘feed’ for ‘protein’ and ‘mystery meats’ (hotdogs, etc) as ‘filler’. These resilient, nearly indestructible by nature, or cooking, individual factories of plague were spread throughout the populations (animal and human) and around the planet awaiting their ‘activation’ by hydration.

Prions? WHAT? Prions are about the smallest and simplest a pathogen can get.  A virus is like a major corporation, with genomes, multiple RNAs (prion doesn’t even have RNA, at least officially. But, it performs 2 major RNA functions – replication and survival even better than RNA does), and a lot more.  Prions could only dream of that.  There are a couple of things about this simple, single protein, an instant assembly line of itself, that make it so devastating.

It turns out that prions are molecules of a normal body protein that have changed their three-dimensional configuration.

PrPC

The normal protein is called PrPC (for cellular) is a transmembrane glycoprotein normally found at the surface of certain cells (e.g., neural and hematopoietic stem cells); has its secondary structure dominated by alpha helices (probably 3 of them); is easily soluble; is easily digested by proteases; is encoded by a gene designated (in humans) PRNP located on our chromosome 20.

PrPSc

The abnormal, disease-producing protein is called PrPSc (for scrapie); has the same amino acid sequence as the normal protein; that is, their primary structures are identical but; its secondary structure is dominated by beta conformation; is insoluble in all but the strongest solvents; is highly resistant to digestion by proteases; When PrPSc comes in contact with PrPC, it converts the PrPC into more of itself (even in the test tube). Because: The last mode of transmission is of particular interest because it indicates that the consumption of meat and other products derived from animals experiencing prion disorders may pose a real risk to humans. As can be clearly seen, once a prion gets inside the body, its small, simple size allows it access to the entire body including the meat itself. Not noted in the quote are the concentrations (quantity X volume) vary between the different organs.

The scope of lipid usage is massive. Don’t eat meat and think you can get away?

The CNS, Central Nervous System – Brain, Spine, Motor and Sensory Nerves and all their Fluids contain the highest concentrations of the protein. Although recent studies have shown that the intestine is also a ‘reservoir’ of prions and would account for the high concentration of prions in feces. The ‘meat’ concentrations should have the least amount of contamination, minus any nerves in the meat as those are high concentrations of prions.

All prions eventually make beta amyloid.  Beta Amyloid is specifically Alpha-Synuclein (AS). Beta Amyloid Plaques are also called a Lewy Body.  Lewy body diseases are characterized by the presence of Lewy bodies, alpha-synuclein(AS)-positive inclusions in the brain. Hello.  With the introduction of cancer into the spectrum of prions another group of disease is seen. This is a significant variance from the semi-limited view of just CNS disease, to a cellular cancer link for prions. If there are two pathologic processes for prions in that vast a spectrum, there should be more. How many more paths of disease can prions activate?

Prions certainly appear to be a causative agent in at least two widely varied pathologic methodology.  As stated prior, Prions are very similar to RNA in the way they work.  Essentially the ‘workhorse’ of RNA strands? Are Prions one or the basic building blocks of many ‘unknown’ cause diseases?  Prions and Synuclein Proteins certainly seem a promising route of investigation for many diseases.

Partial List of Human Diseases with Lewy Bodies: Frontotemporal Dementias, Pick Disease, Corticobasal Degeneration (CBD), Multiple System Atrophy (MSA), has features that overlap striatonigral degeneration, olivopontocerebellar atrophy, and Shy-Drager syndrome; Progressive Supranuclear Palsy (PSP), Multi-infarct Dementia (MID), Huntingon’s Disease, Parkinson’s Disease, Amyotropic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease (CJD). http://library.med.utah.edu/WebPath/TUTORIAL/CNS/CNSDG.html. Alzheimer’s Disease, Kuru, Spinocerebellar Degeneration, and Gaucher’s Disease are a few more. All these diseases leave their footprint in beta amyloid production - Synucleids.

Prions are the only thing we know that leave these amyloid plaque Lewy body remnants.  Whether the origin be internal genome mutation or outside invasion, if given enough time and the right circumstances, they will leave their ‘evidence’ behind.    In the chart below, where they know of no particular pathogen, they somehow decided to show the path of alpha synucleid, which as far as we know are only caused by prions:

Typical, late-onset Parkinson’s disease with Lewy body pathology is linked to mutations in three genes: SNCA (encoding α-synuclein), LRRK2 (encoding leucine-rich repeat kinase 2) and EIF4G1 (elongation initiation factor 4G1; M.F., unpublished data). Missense mutations in SNCA were first linked to familial parkinsonism with late onset, and subsequent SNCA duplications were found in kindreds in which age of onset, progression and associated comorbidities relate to gene dosage.”

“Mutations in and overexpression of α-synuclein seem to be especially toxic to dopaminergic neurons, as dopamine-synuclein adducts may inhibit chaperone-mediated autophagy. Even with the limited mechanistic insight currently available, reduction of α-synuclein expression may represent a potential therapeutic approach.”

“Recently, heterozygous mutations in GBA (encoding glucocerebroside and famously linked to Gaucher disease) have been associated with a typical phenotype of Parkinson’s disease and Lewy body pathology. And now a little about familial inherited and genomes.  Chromosomal DNA genomes definitely play a place in the ‘expression’ of the prion diseases. Their role ranges from abnormal production of the normal protein to the making of an abnormal protein – ‘prion’, all the way to how long an invasive or auto-produced ‘prion’ incubates before killing its host. So are familial inherited caused by the genome, or merely more quickly ‘expressed’ by less resistance by the genome.

This protein goes everywhere.  Saliva, breast milk, feces, etc, a blood brain barrier, placental barrier, cellular barrier (membrane) are like 4 lane private interstates to prions. Once a prion enters a familial blood line how does one remove it. The diseased prion reproduces even if you don’t, and is surely carried by any prodigy. It’s a chicken and egg thing, IMO.

Radioactive fish is looking better and better… I’m done with any ‘mystery meat’.  And I definitely will not be having any Brains and Eggs, thank you very much.  But, for meat eaters ‘corporate butchery’ needs major health changes regarding the handling of ‘meat’ and handling of CNS ‘left over protein’.

unbelievable.. ive been doing everything wrong .. i eat alot of hotdogs .. never again . ..its used in cow feed ....mad cow associated ..its in mystery meats as fillers  like hotdogs ect. i  will be doing some fishing..  i guess they will be more careful in the future in cleaning the beasts .... and discarding not savimng the garbage  and not feeding it  to the animals we eat Alzheimer’s Disease

Look at case study's of the number of incidences of Parkinson's ,Alzheimer's ,etc above the mason Dixon line in just the last 60 years.

It will scare you right out of the supermarket.

Perhaps the modish community is right. Live simple.

So Peace what is your daily meal menu like, if you don't mind sharing.

 

Getting the grandkids to lay off the gummy bears and a whole lot of other stuff too.

I already switched my milk some time ago to almond milk. I already shop whole foods and farmers market to clear added hormones, antibiotics and pesticides and then I had to start looking for the non GMO label...and now Prions!!!! Damn!

Honestly, I don't know how to validate our meat source cuz they affect the genes...I know it's upon ingestion, but is it passed through offspring?! No clue....I went shopping this morning and meat products were not in my cart...my husband will flip....but at least this morning I fed the kids gluten free rice and berries cereal with almond milk. For lunch organic peanut butter sandwich with honey and a cup of "juice" which is actually emergen-c!!! Tastes great! Loaded with minerals and vitamins....I don't know about dinner yet...my husband will protest I'm sure! I just moved so I no longer have a greenhouse, though it is on my to do list...I used to have some chickens for egg production...more to come on prions...i need to read more on the subject.

Also, there is some researchers in Russia and Germany and other independent researchers who are saying DNA can be repaired so, in the meantime I'm cutting out meat and hoping that humanity can pull together for sanity sake. To good health patty!

Thanks for the great article.  It did turn my stomach a bit.  I pretty much have done the switched to everything you've listed.  Since my cancer diagnosis, but now I reached my 5 yr mark of being cancer free, no more stupid meds.  If I knew what I know now 20 years ago, I would of definitely changed my eating habits.  I'm a dedicated juicer (organic) looks like meats are out completely, more fish I suppose or is there something wrong with the fish??? No telling whats wrong with the whole food source.  Time to go back to the pioneer days.

That's pretty much the exact same thing I did. I try to do all organic and non-gmo. I can't give up my meat, so I buy organic grass-fed meat which can also be found at Whole Foods or other nutrition stores. When I started making these changes, I realized that it has to be a gradual change. I try to change the things I can, but I'm not going to beat myself up if I go out to eat or just have an irresistible craving for McDonalds. We are still humans and all we can do is our best with making these changes. It sucks that 90% of the grocery store is made with GMOS....it makes it kind of hard to make this change. It's crazy to find out how much we have been poisoned. If you research Monsanto, you will see that they have a lot of ties to the US government and WAY too much control over us!

 

If prions are so difficult to kill, are they in our drinking water too?

I don't know the answer to this question, but I did want to let you know what I have done as far as water. We ended up purchasing a Kangen alkaline water machine. What a lot of people don't know is that the water you drink (including almost all bottled water) is very acidic and acidic water just allows cancer cells to multiply and other diseases to grow. The machine I bought lets you control the PH level of your water and it's best to drink strong alkaline water at a PH of 9 or higher. (Also....FYI....its been proven by a nobel prize winner that cancer cannot survive in an alkaline environment, so this is something for those that have cancer, should really look into. I have heard great testimonies from people I personally know) Drinking alkaline water will make you healthier all around. 

ALSO.....I have read testimonies that drinking alkaline water has helped some people either overcome their Alzheimers or it has helped it to be less severe. My uncle has Alzheimers, but unfortunately my aunt does not have the money to buy a machine and I don't live close. If anyone wants more info about an alkaline machine, just PM me. I have a lot of faith in alkaline water for preventing and healing diseases.

got me to thinking, so I did some research.  It appears the key defense for our body against prion disease is glutathione.

For instance, cyanohydroxybutene increases glutathione production and is found in broccoli, cauliflower, Brussels sprouts and cabbage. Herbs such as turmeric, cinnamon, and cardamom contain flavonoid compounds which increase glutathione. Selenium, found in Brazil nuts, meat, and seafood, is also needed to make glutathi­one. Eating just one to two Brazil nuts daily supplies enough selenium for most people. Alpha lipoic acid will increase the production of gluta­thione and it is found in red meat, organ meats (such as liver), and yeast (particularly Brewer’s yeast). In addition, the B vitamin riboflavin, found in sunflower seeds, spinach, and avocados, is a precursor co-factor for glutathione. Glutathione production depends on its sulphur-containing amino acid, cysteine. Eggs and garlic are good sources of sulphur-contain­ing amino acids. Whey protein is also rich in sulphur-containing amino acids. Undenatured whey protein is a non-heated product that provides intact sulphur-containing amino acids, such as cysteine.

As discussed in the previous chapter, cystic fibrosis is a chronic inflam­matory lung condition caused by a glutathione deficiency in the face of oxidative stress. In a trial of twenty-one individuals with cystic fibrosis, supplementation with whey protein powder increased glutathione levels. These patients took 10 g of whey protein isolate or casein placebo twice a day for three months. Glutathione levels were measured in the patients’ lymphocytes (a type of white blood cell). The people supplementing with whey protein experienced a 46.6 percent increase in their lymphocyte glu­tathione levels. Those supplementing with casein did not see any change. This study demonstrated that dietary supplementation with a whey-based product can increase glutathione levels in cystic fibrosis.

 

Another randomized placebo-controlled clinical trial studied the use of a fermented food made from fruit, nuts, and vegetables rich in poly­phenols on the immune system in healthy volunteers. By the end of the four-week study, the researchers noted that eating the fermented food significantly enhanced intracellular glutathione levels in all of the white blood cells. In other words, boosting glutathione with this functional food also boosted immunity.

 

While there are many foods that increase glutathione, there are also some foods that decrease glutathione. Foods like cereal, bread, tea, coffee, and dairy products not only lack glutathione, they destroy it.

Food is an important way to increase glutathione production in the body. There are a variety of foods that provide glutathione or glutathione precursors making it possible for everyone to find some way to enhance the glutathione with their diet. If diet isn’t enough, there are lifestyle options as well.

 

Lifestyle And Glutathione

Yoga and glutathione? As odd as it may sound, the practice of yoga increases our body’s production of glutathione. This was nicely demon­strated in a recent clinical trial. This study was conducted on healthy male volunteers from the Indian Navy who were divided into two groups a yoga group and a control group. The yoga group was trained in yoga for six months. The yoga schedule consisted of prayers, asana, pranayama, and meditation. The control group practiced routine physical training exercise, also for six months. Glutathione levels increased significantly (p < 0.05) in the yoga group over the control group after completion of training.

 

Another way to augment the antioxidant defense system of our body and to protect our glutathione stores is by spending time every day with our body in contact with the earth. The earth is a vast and continuous source of electrons. Free radicals, the cause of oxidative damage, are desperate for electrons. Instead of spending regular time in contact with this enormous source of electrons, we have insulated ourselves from it. One of the worse consequences of modern living is our lack of physical contact with the earth. Most of us spend our days insulated in our rubber soled shoes and living in buildings, sometimes several stories off of the ground. Very few individuals take their shoes and socks off and put their feet on the earth every day. If they did, their bodies would experience an influx of electrons and antioxidant effects. This influx, in turn, would spare our beleaguered antioxidants such as glutathione.

The practice of yoga increases our body’s production of glutathione.

Thanks Vicious.   Some good info.  Most people don't realize that glutathione, catalase and SOD that are made by our own bodies are hundreds of times more efficient than anything we get from food or drink.

 

If you increase the efficiency or you body creating these, you drastically increase  your cellular health.  Healthy cells = healthy tissue, healthy tissue = healthy organs, and so on. 

 

Like I said before, I also personally recommend a supplement that increases the effectiveness of both glutathione and SOD. Only 1 out there that I know of that has clinical proof.
