They announced that they will open a free market zone in 3 areas in Iraq. They will do a lot of trade between Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Jordan and Iraq. This was huge. Iraqi Airlines - Kuwait got their money, 500 million dollars and now Iraq is going to start flights to Germany, Sweden & basically all over the world. The budget will be approved on the 5th. It doesn't look like there will be any problems or issues with the it. Looks like they are all happy. Can they revalue before they have a budget? Yes, they can. They can revalue before or after the budget.

1-31-2013 Intel Guru Delta We have confirmation from the IMF that the Standby Arrangement will not be extended anymore. They did not say anything about an extension of the DFI funds. It will expire in May. If they revalue their currency they will not need an extension any more. All indications is Iraq will have to basically support themselves. They will have to start paying their debts. They will have about 80% of their debt erased but they will have to reach certain benchmarks. One of the benchmarks that Iraq has to meet with the sponsor of the World Bank & the IMF is to restructure their currency. Will they do it? They don't have a choice. It is not in Iraq's hands, when the time is right the The World Bank & the IMF will do it.

-31-2013 Newshound Guru Bondlady they did work on the budget yesterday and how can they come to an agreement on the distribution of the 25% of the oil profits if theres not already an agreement on the hcl ? how can you pass out oil profits without the last part of the HCL already being passed, thats the part and last part of the HCL , the part they fight most over, who gets what and how much, so they did work on the budget yesterday and we see it today, ;, see how important all this is.

My two cents on the HCL -- I don't think that the HCL has actually been passed. Last I read, the parties were still fighting over which draft of the HCL they wanted to fight over. HOWEVER, from reading the Iraq oil news articles in recent weeks (especially the ones that reference Exxon), it became clear to me that since the various factions in Iraq can't agree on a draft of the HCL, the oil ministers (or whoever is in charge of negotiating and signing the oil contracts with the Iraqi government) and the big petroleum companies are simply putting HCL-like provisions into these various contracts and enforcing it that way. This means that Iraq (and its people) will be getting the benefit of the terms of the HCL without having to actually pass that law. That is, the parties are doing by contract what they could not succeed in doing legislatively. So, in a sense, the HCL is no longer an issue (or has been resolved), even though the law itself may not have been passed. I do think it's a non-issue right now. Anyway, that's my inference as to what is happening.

The FBI is calling them the "Honey Bun Bandits."

While robbing the Zions Bank located at 1420 S. 300 West on Monday, the two masked gunmen left a package, telling employees and customers it was a bomb.

But the package, which was wrapped in blue Christmas paper with snowmen printed on it, was actually a box of Mrs. Freshley’s Honey Buns, the FBI reported Tuesday.

FBI Special Agent in Charge David J. Johnson said in a news release there is a reward of up to $10,000 for information leading to the arrests and convictions of robbers.

Both robbers are considered armed and dangerous.

The public is advised not to approach either of these individuals and asked to call in tips to the FBI at 801-579-1400 or the Salt Lake City Police Department at 801-799-3000.
