DUBAI/MCLEAN, VA—Hilton Worldwide has plans to expand in Iraqi Kurdistan, Northern Iraq and Erbil, Iraq.

Hilton has signed a management agreement with the Mihtab Group to develop the first Hilton Hotels & Resorts property in Erbil, the 300-room Hilton Erbil Hotel & Spa, to debut in 2016. It will be the second Hilton Worldwide property there, as there are plans to develop a DoubleTree Suites by Hilton in Erbil.

The hotel features 300 rooms, 30 of which are suties and 10 are chalets featuring a health club, outdoor and indoor pool and a retail arcade. The eforea: spa at Hilton will also be offered. Two speciality restaurants, an all-day dining area, a destination bar, lobby lounge and pool bar will also be present. Business and events facilities at the property will include five meeting rooms, two boardrooms and one of the city’s biggest multi-purpose ballrooms that can accommodate up to 1,000 people.

Apparently Kurdistan has been a safe place for a few years... It's the only place ( or at least used to be the only place as far as I know) that has regular commercial flights with Europe justfied by a discreet flow of tourism.
