Urgent .. Source: President Talabani to resign from office upon his return from Germany

06/20/2012

A source close to the presidency that President Jalal Talabani, will resign from his post upon his return to Iraq after the end of the period of treatment in Germany.

The source confirmed that "the wave of President Jalal Talabani to resign, just days before, if forced to change his convictions about the political crisis experienced by Iraq, has sparked mixed reactions," noting that "some politicians see it as a pressure exercised by Talabani's political forces conflicting in order to change their attitudes toward the withdrawal of non-confidence in the Prime Minister. "

He explained that "all Iraqi political blocs to learn how serious the president resigned from his position in light of the crisis and the consequent stifling if she got from the effects of negative political process in the country."

The source speculated that the "President Talabani offers his resignation upon his return from his trip, in case insisted on the outskirts of Arbil, position the parties did not reach a solution, what will enter the country in political chaos." He says

I think he is a good man, and has done a great job for his country. But the wear and tear has gotten to him, along with the threats and a change is needed

If Talabani quits, or dies, they should appoint Maliki (Shite) as President of Iraq.......and appoint Barzani (Kurd) Prime Minister of Iraq. From what I have read the Kurds are turning their territory into an Oasis...new hotels, low street violence, they keep their streets clean etc etc........could be good for all Iraq !!

Nah.... Couldn't be... Would Talaban's last act be following through with the no confidence motion only to trow Maliki the biggest curve ball, and knife in the back, before resigning? That would be epic!!! Hmmm, Maliki is 'interrogated', vote of no confidence passes and then he's taken out back to be tarred and feathered. Now that is something I'd wait for!!!!

Wow the comments are very interesting. Really, so the question is: What are Talabani's motives? He's scared of Maliki too, cause Maliki also has a bit of a corruption file on him? He doesn't want to be in the middle? He knows that if he resigns, then they have other issues and takes it off Maliki which is a tactic of maliki himself? Really, we missed something. His true motive. He acted like he was part of it, and then he stood out of it, but he has always been a maliki companion. so maybe he has fooled us all this time that he is neutral and in fact he is not? Just don't understand that, since he is is not a Baghdadian. baghdad ppl, bagdian, bagadidadian, ahhh, whatever, ;)

I am not sure that he will resign. We have heard that from Allawi, Maliki, Talibani, before, and they are all still here. I know Talibani's health is not very good, but these Iraqi politicians manipulate things for their political advantages, so I really don't believe much they say! Kind of like our politicians.

I actually believe Talibani will either change his mind, or be persuaded to stay, but either way, I don't believe his is going anywhere, anytime soon.

Go RV!!

Good question. Probably. What I wonder is if his son will replace him?

I have found the media souce "qeraat" to be most unreliable, more of a blog than anything else. Go to their home page and click on some of their articles, especially the ones that start with "URGENT".

I wouldn't quite count Talibani out yet.

I agree. Talabani is a cagey guy. Unless he is very ill and no longer has the energy to watch these cats all of the time, and would rather do summertime in Paris while he heals, he and Iran has a plan.
