Last year the Chinese news agency, Tsinghua, reported through CCTV1 (The national news channel) and CCTV9 (The international news channel) that Iraq was going to revalue its currency and that it would take 'a couple of years'.

The report was widely viewed and widely distributed. It has been the ONLY 'official' news report even mentioning the RV in anything other than vague terms. I encourage everyone to search for that report and watch it. It's 30 seconds of affirmation, but it CLEARLY stated that it wouldn't be until at LEAST 2013. I have seen or heard nothing else 'credible' with any kind of date. Therefore, 2013 seems the most reasonable to me too.

Wow, what a business opportunity for Chinese dinar dealers. With China being the hub for fake products, I'd hate to have buy any dinar over there. Maybe we'll get lucky and Okie will read your post, learn Chinese, move there, and set up shop......

Agree. The article suggests the new currency coming out & co-existing with the old & a one year turn in of the old at the start of the new year. No rates were given nor indications of a LOP, RV or float.

This rules out any major rate changes in June & possibly September & December.

In my opinion, the value of the Dinar is going to keep going up. The only unknown is "how far up?" 6-21-2012 Newshound Guru Kaperoni Almost daily the same questions arise, the same insecurities or the same fears. There is absolute proof in these forums that a revaluation of the dinar is coming. I want to make you aware of a post/chat I did some months ago pertaining to a "paper" that Dr. Bakri wrote in Iraq. This "paper" is the most conclusive evidence we have. He "matter of factly" states without question what the "present authorities have decided to change the Iraqi currency to a new currency" over the other choice which is a LOP. So, there is no guessing, no wondering, no confusion, no misdirection. It is unequivocal!

They can. Here's how...

They can LOP then adjust the costs of everything. They can introduce the new coins & lower denoms right away.

At a latter date, they can introduce the larger three language notes at their own convinience.

This is not some idea I just dreamed up. The Shabs is on record spewing this on numerous occations.

There are even some articles out of a two tier RV. A RV for all the George Soros' of the world & a LOP for us small investors.

Really? Its already happened to the current currency. Why cannot the appreciation continue? The IQD currency can support a much higher valuation without the need for changing notes. A 3 decimal lop without a significant appreciation of value first does not serve their intent to add value to the currency.
Again, why cannot the value of the IQD keep appreciating before new notes come in.

The appreciation can continue.....over a longer period of time......but if they choose to go this route, without changing the currency right now, they need to find a way to reduce the money supply, and continue adding to the reserves that back the currencies value...
