With the two week ultimatum given to Maliki last week, we were all given a much needed boost of morale. Of course the opinions began to flow, most leaning towards the hopeful removal of the obstacle to the RV.. I realize that according to the reporting, he is dwelling at the bottom of the bowl where most all politicians live, a bad man indeed.

But what about this thought:

Let's say that the four horsemen are somehow are successful in obtaining his removal. Then what? We will most likely face yet more posturing, positioning and politicking for months, then after the election, the naming of new cabinet members and staff. Then more arguing and meetings. On and on, ad nauseaum infinitum....

Here's the kicker: Will the UNSC will allow Iraq to be released from ch7 with the added instability? Or that Shabibi will release the RV without the government being seated?
Probably not.

Again, I don't have a favorable impression of the man, but I think if there is any chance of seeing the RV happen this year, it might be best to go with the devil you know that one you don't (then put a size 11 to his @ss).

What do you think?

Personally, I don't think Maliki will be removed. I thinkthis 'Gang of Five' is a formal, united voice against Maliki but no more than a formality. They have not displayed any potential or capability to back up their claims that Maliki get things done 'or else'. IMHO, Maliki has faced off against all of them individually and won. Now, he has to face off against the collective and do the same. No, I'm not rooting for the guy. He's a pretty underhanded guy and has even gone so far as to refer to US Forces as occupiers from time to time. Make no mistake, the GoI is no "friend to the West". I don't see anyone being able to fill the void if Maliki is removed by any means. They just don't have it in them. I'd love for the 'Gang of Five' to prove me wrong but this is just talk. May 15th, hell June 15th, will come and Maliki will still be the PM.

Im gonna go ahead and take the optimistic road. The five have
shown that they can agree, thats good for us, Iraq, and its people.
I would think if these leaders can agree on this subject (Malarky)
that could actually mean more stability in their country :D

I would have to disagree if Maliki remains Pm we will never get an RV he is a big problem not just to us and the people but i also believe he is a major puppet for Iran which is NOT good for the USA. He has got to go. As for it taking a long time after maliki's removal what i read is they already have someone assigned if a no confidence vote is implemented so it wont take long plus they have said they will not change the governmental parties. So i think the process wont take as long as many people think.

good post easy. what has maliki done in the 2 years he has been elected? nothing. he didnt even win the election. i think he is another saddam. the op says he was given a two week ultimatum, well he has been given ultimatums before and he just skates right by them. i remember reading somewhere that if a vote of n.c. is given and maliki is outed, whoever steps in (at the time it was allawi) they would have two weeks to seat a new cabinet, but dont quote me that because i dont quite remember all the details.

Exactly, Iraq is in their infancy. I believe that the Iraqi's are working to get their **** together. They are making progress in my opinion. I will remain patient. This is complicated investment. I'm willing to wait it out. :)
