PM Abadi appears to have delayed this official announcement until desert regions and all borders were secure (and perhaps some other loose ends). If this actually takes place as intel and news reports indicate, it is a HUGE step and victory for Iraq in more ways than one...stay tuned as the gurus uncover what impact this will have on the exchange rate of the dinar.... Gurus talk of no RV, a float, non compliance of Article 8, more lMF loans, no confidence in GOI & re-start of auctions. Don't expect any monetary reform any time soon. Sorry for the bad news. Go RV in coming days, weeks or months. 3-30-2016 Newshound Guru Kaperoni It would be nice to see some change in monetary policy soon, but the reality is all the signs are against it. The CBI's auctions spread has drifted way out of whack and is now over 6%. That is itself is a violation of compliance with Article VIII, so they would not be approved for the transition. Throw in lack of laws, the dinar that sits in homes/pillows, etc. and the current stability issues with the ongoing war, and I think we can say pretty accurately that we are months out at best. Maybe even longer. Sorry to bring bad news, but I do not see them ready yet. The way I read this is that they decided against the "delete zeros" which some have always believed was a LOP, and decided in favor of allowing the dinar to rise against foreign currencies via float (a basket is a variation of a float) to achieve the results. ...they must exit the peg in order to float. We have not heard from Abadi yet. This is very complicated but I think Abadi will produce at least the seven ministers by thursday. Don't worry so much about articles stating the NA is giving him 3 weeks. No where does it say Abadi said thanks let alone that he will take 3 weeks. By Thursday we should see real progress both in the change of these ministers and maybe putting the list together on the COM. Hang in...until we actually see where Abadi is coming from.
