  16. yup thats how he got caught went to make a deposit of $268,000 banks red flagged him also he wasn't even sending the dinar and also was getting it illegally out of jordan i think... ya. that what i was reading it said you cannot sell dinar for USD without a license anyways heres the article. A SD man who banked hundreds of thousands of U.S. dollars by selling Iraqi dinars to investors outside the state has been indicted on federal fraud charges. The case against 58-year-old online retailer xxxx xxxxxxxx of Lead is the first prosecution in the U.S. District of South Dakota for the unlicensed sale of the Iraqi currency, but officials say the investment scam has flourished throughout the country in recent years. xxxxxxxxxx was indicted on charges of operating an unlicensed money transmitting business, failure to report on exporting and importing monetary instruments and unlawful structure of transactions to evade reporting requirements. Before his arrest March 9, xxxxxxxxxxx was getting Federal Express packages every day, filled with shrink-wrapped piles of dinar bills that had been smuggled out of Iraq and into Jordan, court documents say. One U.S. dollar is worth about $1,200 dinars. Most of the $670,000 worth of dinar he's charged with importing came from a seller in Amman, Jordan. xxxxxxxxxx allegedly told agents with the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement Service that his business had grown tenfold since 2006. Last April, Montana-based First Interstate Bank flagged $268,000 of xxxxxxxxxx money as having come through "suspicious activity," the court papers allege. The papers also point out that xxxxxxxxxxxx has spent time in prison for tax crimes, has been successfully sued in small claims court several times in Lawrence County during the past 12 years and owes nearly $140,000 in state and federal taxes. Sellers of the Iraqi currency tell potential investors that the dinar's value will grow as Iraq's government and economy stabilize, and that those who buy the bills now are certain to see huge returns when they exchange dinars for dollars in the future. What dinar dealers don't say, according to xxxxxxx xxxxxxxxx of South Dakota's Better Business Bureau, is that Iraqi currency cannot be exchanged for dollars in the U.S. "It seems as if people don't realize that they'd have to take it to Iraq to get anything out of it,"xxxxx said. Even if the money were exchangeable, he said, someone who invests in foreign currency has to be careful to note the actual value of the currency before buying any from an online dealer. "With a lot of these outfits, they've already doubled the price of what the dinars are actually worth,"xxxxxx said. All of the complaints came from outside South Dakota, xxxxxxxx said. The Consumer Protection Office has not received any complaints of other dinar dealers in the state or of South Dakota residents who've purchased dinars from online dealers in other states. very interesting..... wonder what his dinar vets name is??? hopefully we wont see any more okie posts....lol GOT EM!!

  22. There has been much speculation in recent months that the Iraqi dinar would be re-based, knocking off the last three zeros. The lastest news is that Iraq will not in fact remove the zeros from its currency, because it will not resolve inflation and will create opportunities for corruption, reports AKnews, citing a senior source in Iraq’s ministry of finance and economics. The Iraqi dinar was largely devalued after Iraq’s invasion of Kuwait in 1991 and the imposition of international sanctions on the country. While before 1991, one Iraqi Dinar was equal to around $3, now $1 is worth roughly 1170 Dinars, according to Iraqi Central Bank’s exchange rates. Some experts have suggested that removing the zeros will enhance the country’s currency and allow it to better tackle inflation. “The Central Bank wanted to remove the zeros three years ago, we alleged that it was impossible. They wanted to do it again last year and we rejected the proposal again. The issue is currently brought up once again, but the Ministry of Finance and Economics insists that Zeros will remain,” said Fazil Nabi, the deputy minister of finance and economics. Nabi said removing the zeros will not reduce the inflation rates as Iraq’s inflation has been stable and remained low for quite some time. “Besides, it will create problems for many citizens because it takes time for them to learn to use the new currency,” he said. Nabi also stated that certain people will be harmed by removing the zeros because their salaries will decrease while it is unlikely that the price of goods in the markets would decrease. It is not clear to IBN how the minister came to this conclusion. i know....iknow... still uplifting..
