  1. With this happening as Iraq votes in place it’s President, and Prime Minister, this gives me great hope. The European Union wouldn’t have released the CBI from sanctions, nor would they have risked a loan of this magnitude, if the newly elected officials and government was going south. Great News! Thanks Buti & Yota!!

  2. IMO, if you want to see monetary reform in Iraq? He's our Man. He totally get's it. Here is another great article Madi wrote in 2013! Iraqi economy slammed by former vice president 26/05/2013 Adil Abdul-Mahdi, the former Iraqi vice president has criticized the economic policy of the nation blatantly. He also mentioned the economic policy as the failure of the government. He warned government not to tamper the balances of nature of economy. It has to be noted that Adil Abdul-Mahdi is one of the important member of Islamic Supreme Council headed by Ammar al-Hakim. He was the minister of economy of Iraq, during the reign of former Prime Minister, Ayad Allawi. Later, he was appointed as the vice president before presenting his resignation due to different political conflictions. Abdul-Mahdi has written on his personal Facebook page that the dramatic fluctuations of the currency or Iraqi dinar in comparison to the Dollars, since the start of this April are a big concern for the country. No wonder fall in dinar price has resulted in price rise in the local markets and with low salary profile people are struggling to find their way in this economic turmoil. He mentioned, “The high demand for the US dollar that we have seen for months has been widening the gap between supply and demand, at about $60 million-$70 million per day. A black market has emerged, in addition to two different exchange rates with a difference of 8%-10%.” Since the beginning of the year of 2013, the price of Iraqi dinar is falling down, which hit its nadir last week when the dinar dropped from 1,200 per US dollar — the exchange rate registered in March — to 1,300 per US dollar. Following this, parliamentary Financial Commission has stated that half of the Iraqi employees under state will be paid in dollars so that they do not have to face struggles in their daily needs. Also, last week, a little rise in the price of Iraqi dinar has also been recorded. Hussein al-Najem, a financial expert, stated that the exchange rate of the Iraqi dinar to keep advancing due to “new measures espoused by the Central bank of Iraq. He remarked to the media that the real value of dinar is strong enough – it relies on an exchange reserve of 60 million dollar. Due to the regional challenges the impact over exchange is experienced in Iraq. The CBI sells US dollars to Iraqi banks at a rate of 1,179 Iraqi dinars per dollar, provided that banks do not sell these dollars to Iraqi citizens for more than 1,189 dinars per dollar. The rate is even lower than the market rate. Abdul-Mahdi remarked these as two exchange rates. In his Facebook Page, he stated, “This is a disturbing issue that takes us back to the policies of inflation and multiple exchange rates.” He continues, “Our problem is that we have a strong dinar coming from the oil revenues within a fragile, single-product economy that depends on foreign [markets], not only for imports and tourism, but also for medical treatments, migration, residence, investment, speculation and savings.” Abdul-Mahdi believes that “if concepts and measures are not altered in tandem with the changing of regimes, they will clash — as is currently happening. When we abandon the official exchange rate for the sake of supply and demand; restraining transfers, save for a few exceptions, and we instead lift the restrictions after fulfilling the requirements; when we seek to become a civil economy and a market economy, only then, when the strong dinar is not allowed to meet its needs in dollars, will the economy be weakened.” http://www.iraqdirectory.com/en/print.aspx?sid=24029

  3. We have a Dual Judiciary. Dems can never be indicted. This story needs to be reported, it’s 100 times bigger than Watergate and it’s a direct thread to our country. What the Dems, the FBI, and the DOJ did was cover up a crime by HRC, invent a phony Russian Collusion story to cloud an election, then after the election they used the fake dossier to get a Special Investigation into the Trump Campaign. This is nothing short of a coup attempt and Americans should be outraged and demand action into how it happened. There needs to be indictments of the perpetrators and the news media for their role in covering up the story.

  8. TAJI, Iraq (Reuters) - German forces will be needed in Iraq for a long time to help rebuild the country’s military as it struggles to ensure that Islamic State militants do not regroup in underground cells, German Defence Minister Ursula von der Leyen said on Sunday. Germany, which has about 125 soldiers in Iraq, is committed to supporting Baghdad as it rebuilds now that the fight to reclaim territory formerly held by Islamic State (IS)militants is largely over, she said during a visit to German troops at the Taji military base about 30 kms north of Baghdad. “The fight against IS left deep wounds and scars in the country. It will take patience ... to strengthen Iraq again,” she said when asked why Germany was bracing for a longer-term engagement in Iraq. “This is about a reconstruction of a country in all areas.” Iraq not only needed stability but also economic growth and cooperation, von der Leyen told reporters, noting that Germany had invested about 1.4 billion euros ($1.63 billion)in Iraq since 2014. Germany this year began shifting its military training activities to the central part of Iraq after focusing in the past more on training Kurdish Peshmerga forces in northern Iraq. German forces will also advise the Iraqi defense ministry on issues such as mine-clearing and development of defenses against nuclear, biological and chemical weapons, von der Leyen said. She welcomed news that Iraq’s parliament had elected Sunni lawmaker Mohammed al-Halbousi as speaker on Saturday, calling it an important step in the right direction. Von der Leyen, whose government is in talks about a possible role for Germany in military strikes against future chemical weapons use in Syria, said all players in the possible future Iraqi government had said they hoped for Germany’s longer-term commitment to Iraq. On Saturday, during a visit to German forces in Jordan, von der Leyen had said she could not rule out a longer-term deployment of German forces in the Middle East. 9. I would like to say one more thing about Washington DC and our politicians. When you have career politicians who feel entitled, this is the kind of activity you get. Self serving, arrogant politicians and their supporters who don’t want to lose power figure out a way to game the system. You knew the fix was in when Bernie kept throwing softballs at HRC during their debates. I vote for TERM LIMITS on all politicians.

I really don't follow this as closely as any of you.........my thoughts would be that if the Kurds are the "King Makers".....they are more tightly aligned with the US than with Iran.......if so Abadi holds on. The World seems to be willing to work with Abadi on the reconstruction of Iraq........Anyone else would be questionable in my mind in that regard. As many have said.........we'll see soon.....CL Thanks to all of you posting the great articles!!!

  17. Keen Points, MyLilPony, AND The Best Of The Rest Of Your Weekend AND Up Coming Week To You!!! The Anbar Province with the Insanians on the East (right) and Syrial Killers on the West (left), would hardly produce a non Pro Iraqi leader especially with The United States Of America and Coalition forces helping. All the media fan fare is likely a puppet of the Iranian influences via Nouri al-Maliki ATTEMPTING to steer the future alliance of Mohammed Halboussi toward Iran. I can't imagine Sadr (although Shia declaring Bicraqi Iraqi independence from Iran) and others sitting still for a non Sovereign State Iraq heading the Bicraqi Iraqi Parliament. I agree the Sunnis typically have no use for Shia Iran so I find it hard to believe based on Mohammed Halboussi's past relationships, Sunni as well, that he would favor Iran yet would work with Bicraqi Iraqi Shia elements for the Sovereignty Of Iraq. Besides, what are the Bicraqi Iraqi going to do with the loser Insanians when the Insanian sanctions kick in???!!! Stick up for the Insanians or move on to prosperity with reconstruction, construction, economic development, AND foreign investment???!!! Can the Insanians REALLY help out with the needed reconstruction, construction, economic development, AND foreign investment???!!! I think NOT!!! Yep. The Insanians are going down, Down, DOWN!!! While the Bicraqi Iraqi know it, too........................................................................ Well, OK, just my limited perception and understanding of the happenings and soon to be happenings in the sand box. In The Mean Time................................... Go Moola Nova!

(December 2011) (Learn how and when to remove this template message) Reclusión perpetua (Spanish, from Latin: reclusio perpetua, meaning "permanent imprisonment") is a type of sentence of imprisonment in the Philippines, Argentina, and several other countries. In the Philippines, it is one of two sentences, the other being life imprisonment, designed to replace the death penalty and is in legal parlance near-synonymous with life imprisonment. However, there are several important distinctions between the two terms: Reclusión perpetua is prescribed on crimes punishable by the Revised Penal Code, while life imprisonment is imposed on offenses punishable by Special Laws. Reclusión perpetua carries the accessory penalty in which, as defined by Philippine Law, the prisoner is barred for life from holding political office. Life imprisonment does not carry this penalty. Unlike life imprisonment, the length of a sentence for reclusión perpetua is fixed at 40 years and cannot be altered during sentencing. Reclusión perpetua does not allow pardon or parole until after the first 30 years of the sentence have been served, and after 40 years without pardon or parole, the sentence expires. Life imprisonment does not have any definite extent or duration of imprisonment, and prisoners serving life imprisonment can have parole at any time.

  26. The Oil Market Is Entering a “Crucial Period” The International Energy Agency’s latest oil market report suggests that interesting days lie ahead. Sep 16, 2018 at 9:34AM The oil market is in a state of flux. While demand continues to grow at a brisk pace, supplies hit a record 100 million barrels per day (BPD) in August, according to the latest oil market report from the International Energy Agency (IEA). That's after Iraq delivered record-setting production while supplies from Libya rebounded. Because of that, there was more than enough oil to meet the market's needs. However, the IEA noted a few concerns in its report, which suggested that the oil market could tighten up in the coming months and push crude even higher than its current perch near $80 a barrel for Brent, which is the global oil benchmark. That led the IEA to conclude that the oil market is entering a "crucial period," since it's unclear whether other producers will be able to pick up the slack. If they can't, then oil could head even higher. IMAGE SOURCE: GETTY IMAGES. Drilling down into the current situation While global oil supplies topped the 100-million-BPD mark in August, there's some concern about whether producers can keep up that pace. First of all, output in Venezuela remains in free fall. The IEA noted that production averaged 1.24 million BPD last month and could slip to 1 million BPD by year-end if it continues its current rate of decline. That's a steep drop for a country that produced an average of 2.5 million BPD in the last decade. It's not as if Venezuela is running out of oil since it holds the largest reserves in OPEC. Instead, the country doesn't have the money to invest in maintaining its production due to its current economic problems. Meanwhile, oil exports from Iran have started falling in anticipation of the sanctions on that country levied by the Trump administration, which go into effect in early November. So far, Iran's exports are on pace to decline by 500,000 BPD. However, they could potentially fall by as much as 2.5 million BPD, according to some analysts. While OPEC does have about 2.7 million BPD of spare capacity to help fill in the gaps, "it is not clear exactly how much, beyond what is widely thought to be 'easy' to bring online, will be available to coincide with further falls in Venezuelan exports and a maximization of Iranian sanctions," according to the IEA. The IEA further notes that "if we are looking for additional barrels from elsewhere to help compensate for further export declines from Venezuela and Iran the picture is mixed." That's because output from Brazil hasn't increased as much as expected this year due to a variety of issues. Meanwhile, pipeline constraints are slowing production growth in the Permian Basin, which had been the fastest-growing oil region in the world. That issue likely won't abate until the end of next year when new pipelines should enter service. IMAGE SOURCE: GETTY IMAGES. What this means for the oil market These factors led the IEA to conclude that "we are entering a very crucial period for the oil market." Not only could the situation in Venezuela deteriorate at a faster pace given its economic issues, but strife could return to Libya and knock some of its output back offline, while the deadline on Iran is just around the corner. Because of that, the price range of $70 to $80 a barrel for Brent "could be tested" since "things are tightening up." While higher oil prices would be bad for oil consumers, it would benefit oil producers, especially those that can capture Brent-based prices, which are currently $10 a barrel more than the U.S. oil benchmark West Texas Intermediate (WTI). Multinational oil companies like ConocoPhillips(NYSE:COP) and Chevron (NYSE:CVX) would be among those that benefit the most. In ConocoPhillips' case, every $1-per-barrel change in the price of Brent would boost its cash flow by $105 million to $125 million during the course of a year, whereas that same increase would only improve its WTI-based cash flows by $45 million to $55 million. Meanwhile, Chevron produces an average of 575,000 BPD of oil and other liquids in the U.S. that fetch WTI-based prices while getting nearly 1.2 million BPD from places that capture Brent pricing. Because of their higher weighting toward Brent, Chevron and ConocoPhillips would earn more money per barrel if global oil prices rise in the wake of supply problems in Venezuela and Iran. Global oil producers could emerge as the winners The oil market could be very volatile over the next few months. If production from Venezuela continues plummeting and supplies from Iran slump due to sanctions, then the price of Brent could blast well past $80 a barrel. That would be great news for oil producers like ConocoPhillips and Chevron, since they sell a larger portion of their oil at Brent-based prices, which could give their stocks more fuel to outperform rivals in the coming months. https://www.fool.com/investing/2018/09/16/the-oil-market-is-entering-a-crucial-period.aspx

  29. This guy is a communist and an Iranian puppet. There is nothing good going to come out of him being PM. Adil Abdul-Mahdi al-Muntafiki (Arabic: عادل عبد المهدي المنتفكي‎) is an Iraqi Shi'a politician, economist, and was one of the Vice Presidents of Iraq from 2005 to 2011. He was formerly served as the Finance Minister in the Interim government and Oil Minister from 2014 to 2016.[3] Abdel-Mahdi is a member of the powerful Shi'a party the Supreme Islamic Iraqi Council, or SIIC. Long based in neighboring Iran, the group opposed a United States administration while holding close ties with the other U.S.-backed groups that opposed Saddam Hussein, including the Kurds and the Iraqi National Congress. Background[edit] He is a trained economist who left Iraq in 1969 for exile in France. He worked for French think tanks and edited magazines in French and Arabic. He was educated in France, and is the son of a respected Shiite cleric who was a minister in Iraq's monarchy. He attended high school at Baghdad College, an elite American Jesuit secondary school. Iraqi politics[edit] Further information: Government of Iraq from 2006 In the 1970s, Abdul-Mahdi was a leading member of the Iraqi Communist Party. The Party split into two separate factions, the ICP-Central Committee, which was more accommodating of the military governments that had ruled Iraq since 1958, and the ICP-Central Leadership, which rejected all forms of cooperation of what it regarded as anti-progressive regimes, in 1967. Abdul-Mahdi joined the ICP-Central Leadership, and continued being active until it gradually disappeared by the early 1980s. By that time, Abdul-Mahdi adopted Iranian Islamic ideas, eventually merging with the Islamists when Ayatollah Khomeini eradicated the communists and other liberal oppositions groups in Iran. Abdul-Mahdi continued his association with Iran and gradually amalgamated his group within the ICP-Central Leadership with the Iranians, rejecting his Marxist past and devoting all his group's time to propagating Khomeini's ideas in France, where he lived at the time. He eventually was made a member of the Supreme Council for the Islamic Revolution in Iraq, an exiled opposition party and militia that was formed by Iran in Tehran in 1982 but composed exclusively of Iraqi exiles.[4] In 2006, Abdul-Mahdi, outgoing Vice President in the transitional government, unsuccessfully ran for the United Iraqi Alliance's nomination for Prime Minister against incumbent Ibrahim al-Jaafari. He lost by one vote. He was reportedly considered to be a possibility for Prime Minister once again until Nouri al-Maliki became the UIA nominee. Subsequently, Abdul-Mahdi was re-elected as Vice President of Iraq. He exerted his limited authority in that role by delaying the first meeting of the National Assembly in March. He resigned from his position as vice-president on 31 May 2011.[5] In December 2006, the Associated Press reported that Abdul-Mahdi could be the next Prime Minister of Iraq if a new multi-sectarian coalition succeeded in toppling the government of Nouri al-Maliki.[6] In 2009, his bodyguards were involved in a bloody bank robbery in Baghdad

  42. I’ve been doing a lot of reading today and I’m not hating everything. Some of the news and promises sound similar to what we were reading before the elections. I just hope this group of politicians will deliver on those promises and not get sucked into more corruption and ripping off the wealth of Iraq like previous politicians. Everything in Iraq is a process and they proceed very slowly. Its just good to read that the election process is drawing to a conclusion. To be honest I could give a rip who is President and who is PM as long as those people put into power will elevate their country. The people of America and it’s Allies liberated Iraq from a brutal dictator and it’s about time to deliver to the people of Iraq a liberated currency and a government that works for them. It would be nice to see a rate increase that would benefit our soldiers who served in Iraq and the American tax payers. (and people like us who invested in Iraq). Its Iraq and I’ve learned to be patient and see what happens next.
