Hello all, just signed up for this site as I have been following for the last few weeks. I am a banker at Bank of America and I do own Dinar. I will tell you right now that anyone who is in the banking industry that tells you they have received information about the RV of the Dinar does not have reliable sources (not that anyone has reliable sources). Anyone who works at a bank that has information about Dinar, even the banking center manager, is just hearing this info being passed down from their market executives who really do not know themselves. Shoot with any questions you may have for me. Thanks.

A gal I got into this currency speculation went into our mutual tiny bank a few days ago and went to the office of the bank manager. Instead of telling her their bank doesn't deal with foreign currency (which is what they've always told her and me), she was brought into the office, the door was shut, and she said that they could set up the proper accounts for her and she could have her new-found wealth wired into them. Also, yesterday, the middle manager there was really "chatting me up" and treating me with respect, instead of treating me like a fool and telling me that I've gotten the whole island into a scam. I found that behavior change on her part interesting... Today, I'm going to go visit her boss and see about her wealth management strategy for me... We'll see if she thinks it's a waste of time to discuss it, knowing I'm currently broke...or if she sets me up with one of those limitless FDIC-protected interest-free accounts... Soldiering4U, I had the same question; How did a birth certificate printed in 1961 end up having the name Barack Hussein Obama on it, when he did not have that name until he was a young adult? His name was Berry Santoro until he changed it to Barack Hussein Obama. If you have a real birth certificate printed when you were born, it has your real name on it, not a name you've only recently changed. The Iraqi government plans to chop three zeroes off the national currency. It should make transactions easier and enhance the exchange rate. But local economists are not sure the country is ready. Recently the Iraqi government announced that they were close to completing plans for re-denomination. Three zeroes will be removed from Iraq’s currency, the Iraqi dinar or IQD, and old banknotes will gradually be phased out. For example, this would make an IQD 1,000 note into an IQD 1 note. Currently IQD 1,000 is worth around €0.60 and US$0.85. Logically speaking, re-denomination does not change the value of a currency nor should it cause inflation. It should make currency easier to use and increase its credibility. Re-denomination may also be a matter of political expedience. For example, when Turkey announced a re-denomination in 2005, the country’s central bank explained that extra zeroes on their banknotes meant “problems in accounting and statistical records, data processing software and payment systems”, adding that the move to cut them was “psychologically and technically essential”. Re-denomination can usually only be undertaken once inflation is under control and over the last few years, inflation in Iraq has dropped from over 30 percent to single digits. Nonetheless Iraqi opinions about the planned change remain divided. Qasim Jabbar, an economic researcher, is concerned about the psychological impact the removal of three zeroes will have on locals. Additionally Jabbar does not think the time is right. “We must create a stable environment in political, economic and legal terms, in order to control the conditions during the transition period to a new currency,” he explained. “This is necessary in order to ensure that the transition is not manipulated by government departments and in society in general, where there is rampant corruption.” Jabbar was also worried about the absence of a central authority that was truly capable of controlling the Iraqi currency market. He believed that the psychological problem will be people “focusing on the change in numbers, rather than in real value”. By rights, re-denomination should not impact the actual value of a currency; it should still buy the same goods as it did before for the same prices. “But a person with IQD 10 million will feel they have lost a fortune when the zeros are removed,” he noted. Re-denomination is nothing new. “Many countries, such as Turkey and Germany, have also taken this step,” another Iraqi economist Kareem al-Halfi said. “But this doesn’t mean that the Iraqi experience will be like that, of those nations. Iraq has serious structural problems and high rates of unemployment. These problems cannot be solved in the short term and we need to create the economic conditions necessary to allow re-denomination.” According to Mothahhar Mohammed Saleh, an advisor to the Central Bank of Iraq, which was established in 2004 to administer monetary policy in Iraq, the impact of re-denomination could have both positive and negative effects. Firstly, a reduction in the large amount of currency in circulation – there is an estimated IQD 27 trillion in circulation – could have a negative impact on everyday transactions, he said. For example, one previously recorded impact in other countries has included the rounding up (or down) of prices due to re-denomination. On the other hand, the currency will become far easier to use. “In the wholesale sector, goods are being traded using US dollars.” This process is known as “dollarization” and occurs when a country uses a foreign currency, in parallel to or instead of, its own currency because it is seen as more stable and subject to fiscal disciplined. Anyway, according to Saleh, “this change will not be introduced hastily. It will only be introduced when inflation is under control - and after parliament and the Iraqi cabinet has gone through legislation thoroughly. Would my salary be worth the same, with and without the zeroes?” He wanted to see more research on the impact of such a step on the average Iraqi citizen. If you have the minimum amount required to open a checking account ($1, $5 or whatever), you can get an FDIC protected account (no maxiumum on the amount covered) if it is an interest free account. Nothing unusual here. Don't let a bank let you think they are doing you a favor. They are not. Why would you set up accounts before you know what you have, and why would the bank do that. The type of wealth management you get into, depends upon the amount of wealth that you have. You said you currently have none. If the bankers wants to set up accounts prior to you have anything to put in them, you may want to look for another banker. Or maybe you will make enough off of pumping that you won't have to worry about it.

Update: We are having a call Thursday with the Nevada Service Groups as guest speakers and a wonderful Q & A. You will not want to miss this one folks. Breaking News! Here is the information from Ray. Steve, Just got off the phone with my contact. He told me that Shabibi was on Iraqi Tv. This is what he said: He told the people that he had recently opened two new checking accounts. One for the oil revenue and the other for the DFI fund. He also stated that the old DFI bank account in the States would be closed May 30. He also told the people that the dinar is going to revalue very soon. He said this would make for a stronger economy for Iraq and stronger currency that the people could use outside of Iraq anywhere in the world. He said many contractors would be coming into Iraq to build many things and this would create jobs and make Iraq a stronger country. He also stated, that after the dinar raised in value, that everyone could start exchanging their current dinar for the new dinar within 24 hours. He also told the people that a new banking system was done and will be put into place as soon as the dinar revalues. This new system will allow people to do all the banking transactions that other banks do around the world. He also said that everyone that has a job will be issued a Smart Card very soon. Their wages would be loaded on these cards that they then can take them to the banks, atms, vendors or anywhere else inside and outside of Iraq. He stressed they would receive these very soon. He stressed that everything is done with the new banking system, banks and smart cards. He said all he is waiting for is Parliament to vote on dropping the three zeroes. Call me the eternal optimist, but I just don't forsee a lop. Remember, how many times have we been told to watch what they do and not what they say? Also we have been told time and again that there will intentionally be a lot of misinformation put out right as the RV is approaching. Don't forget that stuff. My thoughts (and I know many of you will disagree as is your right) are that we will have a straight up RV. In fact I think we will have two. Low at first (somewhere between 20 to 40 cents). Iraq can easily support an RVof that amount. Then, after all the people like me who are ready to get off the merry go round ( and anything 35cents or better and I'm gone) cash in, I expect them to reval closer to it's real value. This second reval, by the way will occur one day after I cash in. ( Just so you hanger oners know how long you'll have to hold).
